Pancreatitis Induced by Hypertriglyceridemia

چکیده
The detailed pathophysiological mechanisms involved in the progression of hypertriglyceridemia to pancreatitis are little known. Using an animal model we have found that the earliest detectable changes caused by hypertriglyceridemia consist of a selective degeneration of the mitochondria in the exocrine pancreas cells. This supports the view that an excess of free fatty acids deranges the mitochondrial function leading to an increased production of free radicals and thus oxidative stress. To prevent or treat hypertriglyceridemia is the primary goal in patients suffering from this type of pancreatitis. Our findings agree with the view that also antioxidants may have a role in the prevention of recurrent hypertriglyceridemia-induced pancreatitis. Clinical trials with and without high doses of antioxidants should be carried out in patients suffering from recurrent hypertriglyceridemic pancreatitis.

Familial hypertriglyceridemia-induced acute necrotizing pancreatitis: A case report
Acutepancreatitis can infrequently be a life-threatening complication of hypertriglyceridemia. Rarely, hypertriglyceridemia can originate from an inborn genetic error in lipoproteins metabolism. This condition can be manifested by very high serum triglyceride levels (>1000 mg/dl) and a more severe and lethal form of pancreatitis. Here, we present a case of acute pancreatic which was found out t...

Background & aim: Elevated triglyceride levels in women with hereditary forms of hypertriglyceridemia may involve the risk of pancreatic attacks during pregnancy. Case report:In this study, we present the clinical course of a 42-year-old pregnant woman with two vaginal deliveries and one cesarean section (gravidity: 4, parity: 3, live: 2, death: 1) admitted to our hospital. Gestational age was...
متن کاملSevere Hypertriglyceridemia in Diabetic Ketoacidosis Accompanied by Acute Pancreatitis: Case Report
We report a case of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) and hypertriglyceridemia (severely elevated to 15,240 mg/dL) complicated by acute pancreatitis, which was treated successfully with insulin therapy and conservative management. A 20-yr-old woman with a history of type 1 diabetes came to the emergency department 7 months after discontinuing insulin therapy. DKA, severe hypertriglyceridemia and acut...
متن کاملHypertriglyceridemia-Induced Pancreatitis: Choice of Treatment
Severe hypertriglyceridemia is one of the many yet rare risk factors associated with acute pancreatitis. The level of triglycerides plays a crucial role in determining the method and duration of treatment. As with the treatment of other causes of acute pancreatitis, bowel rest, intravenous fluids, and supportive care play a crucial role. However, depending on the degree of hypertriglyceridemia,...
متن کاملDiabetic Ketoacidosis-induced Hypertriglyceridemic Acute Pancreatitis Treated with Plasmapheresis—Recipe for Biochemical Disaster Management
Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)-induced hypertriglyceridemia causing pancreatitis is an interesting phenomenon that has rarely been reported in literature. Plasmapharesis is a well known treatment modality for hypertriglyceridemia-induced pancreatitis. We report a patient with DKA-induced hypertriglyceridemic acute pancreatitis treated successfully with plasmapharesis.
