چکیده

Computational models of the human decision making process have already enabled several insights and applications. Nevertheless, such models have only recently begun to consider that simply modelling rational decision making was insufficient to represent human behavior. Recent efforts have started to consider this factor by utilizing computational models of emotions. One of the most significant challenges to be faced here is the interdisciplinary cooperation required in order to develop a holistic and integrated model, which reflects aspects of embodiment and is integrated in a holistic cognitive architecture. In this paper we will analyse how models from relevant disciplines can support us in outlining an overview model which considers the mentioned criteria.

Preface In memory of Roberto

The series of workshop AIC was launched in 2013 with the idea of fostering the collaboration between the researchers (coming from the fields of computer science, philosophy, engineering, psychology, neuro-sciences etc.) working at the intersection of the Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI) communities, by providing an international forum of discussions and communication of the re...

Virtual Humans Growing up

In order to understand and model the role of emotion in cognitive processes we attempt to integrate theoretical approaches originating from different disciplines in an implemented cognitive architecture for embodied agents. Our virtual humanoid agent Max employs this architecture to generate believable human-like behaviors in a variety of situational contexts. In this article, we describe how w...

Humanoid Agents as Hosts, Advisors, Companions, and Jesters

Humanoid agents can serve in a variety of activities ranging from hosts, to advisors and coaches, to teachers and to humous companions. This paper explores recent research in humanoid robots and embodied conversational agents to undertand how both of these types of humanoid agents might play a role in our lives.

Evaluating the Communication of Emotion via Expressive Gesture Copying Behaviour in an Embodied Humanoid Agent

We present an evaluation of copying behaviour in an embodied agent capable of processing expressivity characteristics of a user’s movement and conveying aspects of it in real-time. The agent responds to affective cues from gestures performed by actors, producing synthesised gestures that exhibit similar expressive qualities. Thus, copying is performed only at the expressive level and informatio...
