چکیده
gins of this common intervention are unclear, it has been adopted in a variety of guidelines. Up to 90% of acute care patients who need assistance in repositioning do not receive manual turning every 2 hours despite these guidelines. Among patients who are in an ICU bed, direct observations indicate that the mean number of manual turns during a 24-hour period ranges from 2 to 6 times instead of the 11 to 12 times expected.

Background: Respiratory distress syndrome is one of the main causes of infant mortality. Surfactant is the standard treatment for it. In this study, complication of surfactant therapy via mechanical ventilation and manual injection were compared in neonates with respiratory distress syndrome admitted in neonatal intensive care unit of Besat hospital in Sanandaj. Methods: In this retrospe...
متن کاملHemodynamic changes with manual and automated lateral turning in patients receiving mechanical ventilation.
BACKGROUND Lateral turning of critical care patients receiving mechanical ventilation can adversely affect hemodynamic status. OBJECTIVE To study hemodynamic responses to lateral turning. METHOD A time-series design with automated signal processing and ensemble averaging was used to evaluate changes in heart rate, mean arterial pressure, and pulse pressure due to lateral turning in 13 adult...

Introduction: Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) is one of the most important complications of mechanical ventilation and cause of mortality in traumatic patients under mechanical ventilation admitted in the ICU (intensive care unit). The aim of current study was comparing sedationreceived as bolus and infusion at incidence of VAP in intubated traumatic patients in the ICU. Methods:...
متن کاملComparison of the Effects of Open and Closed Endotracheal Suction on Cardiovascular and Ventilation Parameters for Patients Undergoing Mechanical Ventilation
Background and Objectives: Suction is a necessary and common method which aids in the release of secretion from the respiratory system for the patients who have undergone mechanical ventilation. One of the most common complications of suction is hypoxemia which causes dysrhythmia and death. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of open and closed-endotracheal suction on cardiov...

OBJECTIVES Patients unable to perform breathing functions may be submitted to invasive mechanical ventilation. Chest physiotherapy acts directly on the treatment of these patients for the purpose of improving their lung function. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of manual rib-cage compression versus the positive end expiratory pressure-zero end expiratory pressure (PEEP-Z...
