Increased oncogenicity of the murine sarcoma virus (Moloney) by co-infection with murine leukemia viruses.

چکیده
The high incidence of spontaneous regressions of primary tu mors induced by the Moloney sarcoma virus in adult mice was significantly altered by co-infection with Rauscher, Moloney, and Friend leukemia viruses. Intramuscular, intraperitoneal, or subcutaneous inoculation of sarcoma extracts, prepared from progressively growing tumors obtained from dually infected animals, resulted in extensive métastases.Tumor nodules were observed in several tissues and organs. Regression of primary virus-induced tumors could be altered by low concentrations of Rauscher leukemia virus. The role of the leukemia virus, acting as "helper" or as an immunosuppressor, is discussed.

A cell line derived from a murine sarcoma virus (Moloney pseudotype)-induced tumor has been established. It retains oncogenicity, releases both sarcoma and leukemia viruses, and has virus-induced cellular antigens.
متن کاملEnhancement of murine sarcoma virus (Moloney) infection and tumorigenesis in vivo by coinfection with Rauscher leukemia virus.
Dual infection of mice with murine sarcoma virus (Moloney) [MSV(M)] and Rauscher leukemia virus (RLV) resulted in an enhanced MSV(M) infection, reflected by increased mortality with tumor. Significant increases in tumor incidence, induced by low concentrations of MSV(M) when inoculated into RLV-infected mice, demonstrated that RLV enhanced MSV(M) oncogenicity. Temporal studies indicated that RL...
متن کاملEnhancement of viral oncogenicity by the prior administration of dimethyl sulfoxide.
The i.m. injection of dimethyl sulfoxide prior to the infection of quail with Rous sarcoma virus strain 0 and of mice with Moloney sarcoma virus resulted in increased virus titers, decreased incubation time to tumors and, in the case of Moloney sarcoma virus, decreased spontaneous regressions. Dimethyl sulfoxide administered at the time of or after infection was without effect. This compound al...
متن کاملStudies on the Neutralization of the Oncogenicity of Friend, Moloney, and Rauscher Viruses1
Friend, Moloney, and Rauscher (FMR) viruses were in cubated with either normal serum or with sera from C57BL/6 mice immunized with syngeneic Friend, Moloney, or Rauscher virus-induced lymphomas. The mixtures were inoculated into newborn BALB/c mice, and the development of lymphomas was followed. The oncogenicity of all 3 viruses was effectively neutralized by each of the antisera. The results s...
