چکیده

The X-ray galaxy cluster sample from the REFLEX Cluster Survey, which covers the X-ray brightest galaxy clusters detected in the ROSAT All-Sky Survey in the southern sky, is used to construct the X-ray luminosity function of clusters in the local Universe. With 452 clusters detected above an X-ray flux-limit of 3 · 10 erg s cm in 4.24 sr of the sky, this sample is the most comprehensive X-ray cluster sample with a well documented selection function, providing the best current census of the local X-ray galaxy cluster population. In this paper we discuss the construction of the luminosity function, the effects of flux measurement errors and of variations with sample region and we compare the results to those from previous surveys. Constraining the Matter Power Spectrum Normalization Using the Sdss/rass and Reflex Cluster Surveys

We describe a new approach to constrain the amplitude of matter perturbations in the Universe using galaxy clusters. We combine the galaxy cluster X-ray luminosity function of the REFLEX survey with the mass– luminosity relationship obtained via gravitational lensing from a sample of galaxy clusters identified in Sloan Digital Sky Survey commissioning data and confirmed through cross-correlatio...

The REFLEX galaxy cluster survey . VIII . Spectroscopic observations and optical atlas ⋆

We present the final data from the spectroscopic survey of the ROSAT-ESO Flux-Limited X-ray (REFLEX) catalog of galaxy clusters. The REFLEX survey covers 4.24 steradians (34% of the entire sky) below a declination of δ = +2.5 and at high Galactic latitude (|b| > 20◦). The REFLEX catalog includes 447 entries with a median redshift of 0.08 and is better than 90% complete to a limiting flux fX = 3...

Predicting the Clustering of X-Ray Selected Galaxy Clusters in Flux-Limited Surveys

We present a model to predict the clustering properties of X-ray selected clusters in flux-limited surveys. Our technique correctly accounts for past lightcone effects on the observed clustering and follows the non-linear evolution in redshift of the underlying dark matter correlation function and cluster bias factor. The conversion of the limiting flux of a survey into the corresponding minimu...

Cosmological constraints from the local X - ray luminosity function of the most X - ray luminous galaxy clusters

We present precise constraints on the normalization of the power spectrum of mass fluctuations in the nearby universe, σ8, as a function of the mean local matter density, Ωm. Using the observed local X-ray luminosity function of galaxy clusters from the extended BCS and REFLEX studies, a mass-luminosity relation determined from Chandra and ROSAT X-ray data and weak gravitational lensing observa...

Based on the ROSAT All-Sky Survey we have conducted a large redshift survey as an ESO key programme to identify and secure redshifts for the X-ray brightest clusters found in the southern hemisphere. We present first results for a highly controlled sample for a flux limit of 3 · 10 erg s cm (0.1 2.4 keV) comprising 475 clusters (87% with redshifts). The logN-logS function of the sample shows an...
