Decentralized predictive control for 1D cascaded systems of conservation laws

چکیده
In this work we investigate the predictive control problem for partial differential equations interconnected through their boundary conditions. More specifically, we consider systems of cascaded 1D hyperbolic equations. The main obstacle for applying model predictive control methodologies for such systems is the huge computational effort required to solve the corresponding optimization problems. Therefore, we present some results on decomposition methods. The obtained sub-problems are solved in parallel and considered as subsystems controlled by decentralized interacting agents. The proposed approach is validated in simulation for a free surface water transportation system made of interconnected canal reaches interconnected through actuated gates.

The comparison of two high-order semi-discrete central schemes for solving hyperbolic conservation laws
This work presents two high-order, semi-discrete, central-upwind schemes for computing approximate solutions of 1D systems of conservation laws. We propose a central weighted essentially non-oscillatory (CWENO) reconstruction, also we apply a fourth-order reconstruction proposed by Peer et al., and afterwards, we combine these reconstructions with a semi-discrete central-upwind numerical flux ...
متن کاملSelf-similar solutions of the Riemann problem for two-dimensional systems of conservation laws
In this paper, a new approach is applied to study the self-similar solutions of 2×2 systems of nonlinear hyperbolic conservation laws. A notion of characteristic directions is introduced and then used to construct local and smooth solutions of the associated Riemann problem
متن کاملGradient-based Model Predictive Control Design with Application to Driftless Nonlinear Systems
Systems subject to nonholonomic constraints or nonintegrable conservation laws may be modeled as driftless nonlinear control systems. Such systems are not stabilizable using continuous time-invariant state feedback. Time varying or piecewise continuous feedback are the only stabilization strategies currently available. This paper presents a new feedback stabilization algorithm for this class of...
متن کاملDissipativity-based Distributed Nonlinear Predictive Control for Cascaded Systems
Developing centralized controllers for large-scale systems, e.g. complex chemical processes, electrical power networks, is an important, yet challenging problem. Typically, it would be of advantage if one could divide the problem into smaller parts (or subproblems), and to opt for a decentralized or distributed alternative. On the other hand, due to physical interconnections between subsystems,...
متن کاملDecentralized Advanced Model Predictive Controller of Fluidized-Bed for Polymerization Process
The control of fluidized-bed operations processes is still one of the major areas of research due to the complexity of the process and the inherent nonlinearity and varying dynamics involved in its operation. There are varieties of problems in chemical engineering that can be formulated as NonLinear Programming (NLPs). The quality of the developed solution significantly affects the performa...
