CMOS Front-End Circuits of Dual-Band GPS Receiver

چکیده
A RF front-end chip for a dual-band Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver for L1 and L2 bands is designed using 0.25 μm CMOS technology. All function blocks of the GPS front-end are integrated onto one chip. The low noise amplifier has input matching over a wide frequency range to handle the L1 and L2 bands. This receiver uses a dualband image-reject mixer with the quadrature mixer sharing a transconductor stage. This configuration enables the RF blocks to be shared with the L1 and L2 bands. The receiver has a chip area of 3.16 mm × 3.16 mm, and consumes 35 mA at 2.5 V. key words: dual-band GPS receiver, L1/L2, LNA, image-reject mixer, image-rejection ratio (IMRR)

متن کاملDesign of 1.8V 1GHz 0.18 m CMOS LNA for GPS
the low noise amplifier is the key part for front-end device of the receiver in the GPS. A 1.8V 0.18um CMOS LNA for GPS applications has been designed. Two kinds of low noise amplifier (LNA) for single-end cascade structure and differential cascade structure respectively are presented in this paper. Cadence software is used to optimize the two circuits. It provides a series of good results in N...
متن کاملRF front-end architecture for a triple-band CMOS GPS receiver
This paper describes a triple-band global positioning system (GPS) receiver that simultaneously covers the L1, L2, and L5 frequency bands. The proposed receiver uses an image-rejection technique that can separate signals from the three frequency bands to three corresponding ports. It uses a single RF path containing a low-noise amplifier (LNA), and active and passive mixers with a pair of local...
متن کاملMulti-Band Multi-Standard CMOS Receiver Front-Ends for 4G Mobile Applications
The development of the transistor and its continuous down-scaling has allowed during the last decades the appearance of cheap wireless communication systems targeting consumer products. The complexity of these systems has increased dramatically during the last years, mainly fueled by both the Moore law and improvements in communication theory. Originally, the radio transceivers were composed of...
متن کاملReconfigurable and Simultaneous Dual Band Galileo/GPS Front-end Receiver in 0.13μm RFCMOS
A reconfigurable and simultaneous dual band Galileo/GPS front-end receiver has been realized on 0.13-μm RFCMOS technology. The front-end uses only one fixed frequency PLL and VCO on a superheterodyne architecture to down-convert two RF (Radio Frequency) signals into two IF (intermediate frequency) signals in the range of 50MHz to 150Mhz. L1 and E1 signals are directly converted on one channel w...
