Evidence for Quantisation in Planetary Ring Systems
نویسنده
چکیده
Absolute radial positions of the main features in Saturn’s ring system have been calculated by adapting the quantum theory of atomic spectra. Fine rings superimposed upon broad rings are found to be covered by a harmonic series of the form N α A(r) 1/2 , where N and A are integers. Fourier analysis of the ring system shows that the spectral amplitude fits a response profile which is characteristic of a resonant system. Rings of Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune also obey the same rules. Involvement of the atomic fine structure constant throughout implies the existence of a real quantisation force linking gravitation and atomic theories. PACS Codes: 96.12.Uv, 96.30.Mh, 96.30.Wr.

The Physics of Planetary Ring Systems
Planetary ring systems are rich astrophysical environments that offer some of the most visually stunning solutions to Newton’s Laws in the solar system. Since the discovery of the Saturnian rings in 1610 by Galileo, planetary rings have been a frequent object of study by both physicists and astronomers. In the past thirty years enhanced earth based equipment and the scientific probes Pioneer-11...
متن کاملTransit Detectability of Ring Systems Around Extrasolar Giant Planets
We investigate whether rings around extrasolar planets could be detected from those planets’ transit lightcurves. To this end we develop a basic theoretical framework for calculating and interpreting the lightcurves of ringed planet transits based on the existing framework used for stellar occultations, a technique which has been effective for discovering and probing ring systems in the solar s...
متن کاملExponential law as a more compatible model to describe orbits of planetary systems
According to the Titus-Bode law, orbits of planets in the solar system obey a geometric progression. Many investigations have been launched to improve this law. In this paper, we apply square and exponential models to planets of solar system, moons of planets, and some extra solar systems, and compare them with each other.
متن کاملA geometric procedure for the reduced-state-space quantisation of constrained systems
We propose in this paper a new method for the quantisation of systems with first-class constraints. This method is a combination of the coherent-state-path-integral quantisation developed by Klauder, with the ideas of reduced state space quantisation. The key idea is that the physical Hilbert space may be defined by a coherent-state path-integral on the reduced state space and that the metric o...
متن کاملFormation of Double Rings around Evolved Stars
I propose a scenario for the formation of double-ring systems, as observed in some planetary nebulae and in the outer rings of SN 1987A. In this scenario, two jets, one jet on each side of the equatorial plane, expand into a thin, dense shell. Such a flow is expected in binary systems where the mass-losing primary undergoes an impulsive mass loss episode which forms a thin, dense shell. I assum...
