چکیده

New heart monitoring devices such as implantable ECG recorders may provide effective ways to monitor specifically certain heart region, e.g. ischemic region. Previously we have developed and presented the region of interest sensitivity ratio (ROISR) parameter to describe how specific a measurement is to the activation arisen the ROI compared to other source regions. Present study demonstrates the applicability of ROISR in analyzing the specificity of an implanted bipolar ECG monitor. Sensitivity distributions of the implanted ECG system at six locations were calculated in a realistic model of a human thorax. These were applied in calculation of ROISRs for 12 different ROIs of the left ventricle. The results indicate that some of the tested locations provide high specificity to an individual ROI but some have high specificity to number of ROIs. The study demonstrates that the ROISR analyzing method is effective when studying the capabilities of ECG implants to measure certain heart

Local Left Ventricular Epicardial J Waves and Late Potentials in Brugada Syndrome Patients with Inferolateral Early Repolarization Pattern

Background: Brugada syndrome (BrS) is characterized by J-point or ST-segment elevation on electrocardiograms (ECGs) and increased risk of ventricular fibrillation (VF). In BrS, epicardial depolarization abnormality with delayed potential on the right ventricular outflow tract is reportedly the predominant mechanism underlying VF. Yet VF occurrence is also associated with early repolarization (E...

Cross-sectional echocardiography in acute myocardial infarction: detection and localization of regional left ventricular asynergy.

Left ventricular asynergy associated with acute myocardial infarction was evaluated by crosssectional echocardiography. Patients with acute infarction were studied within 48 hours of admission, and a segmental analysis of left ventricular wall motion was performed using nine segments obtained by shortand long-axis recordings of the left ventricle. By this segmental approach, analysis of wall mo...

Contributions of the 12 Segments of Left Ventricular Myocardium to the Body Surface Potentials

Experimental and inverse approaches have been applied in studying the contributions of different parts of the myocardium to the ECG measurements. Also optimal electrode locations for different clinical purposes have been studied by applying body surface maps. It is valuable to know where the measured ECG is actually generated. Thus the measurements can be designed to be most optimal to measure ...

Electrocardiographic and clinical characteristics of idiopathic restrictive cardiomyopathy in children.

BACKGROUND Idiopathic restrictive cardiomyopathy (RCM) is not a single disease and is rare. METHODS AND RESULTS The clinical features and clinical course of 12 pediatric patients with RCM seen between 1978 and 2005 were retrospectively analyzed. The age at diagnosis ranged from 4 months to 12 years (median 4 years). The age of 7 patients diagnosed because of an abnormal electrocardiogram (ECG...

Left ventricular false tendons and electrocardiogram repolarization abnormalities in healthy young subjects

AIM To describe echocardiographically left ventricular false tendon characteristics and the correlation with ventricular repolarization abnormalities in young athletes. METHODS Three hundred and sixteen healthy young athletes from different sport disciplines were evaluated from 2009 to 2011 during routine screening for agonistic sports eligibility. All subjects, as part of standard pre-partic...
