Framework for Analyzing SOAP Messages in Web Service Environments
نویسندگان
چکیده
Service Oriented Architectures can be quite complex which makes managing and monitoring them hard. Message exchanges as well as complete message flows are important when it comes to analyzing the performance of systems and identifying problems. The use of SOAP as the common message format for web services enables interoperability and extensibility. Furthermore it can be used for logging and analysis because its components follow web service specifications. We present a framework that allows for logging, analyzing and visualizing these messages across a distributed system. The proposed framework consists of a flexible logging module that captures incoming and outgoing messages of a web service. The log parsing library provides various methods for normalizing, correlating across geographically distributed sites and analyzing messages. The visualization tool is able to display relationships between the web services as well as message flows. In utilizing this adaptable framework for analyzing SOAP messages it is possible to overcome the challenges of complexity and disparity that monitoring and management approaches face in web service environments

Optimizing Web Service Messaging Performance Using a Context Store for Static Data
The performance and efficiency of Web Service messaging can be greatly increased by removing the redundant parts of SOAP messages. This paper describes our research work in optimizing SOAP message contents. This area is particularly important to those applications that are physically constrained mobile computing environments. The redundant or static parts of the SOAP message may be treated as m...
متن کاملWS-I* compliant web service SOAP message security performance
The OASIS web services security (WSS) standard has been developed to provide encryption and digital signing for SOAP messaging to ensure the information in the message is confidential and that the sender and receiver are who they say they are. It has also introduced interoperability and performance problems. Interoperability has been improved with the introduction of the WS-I* Basic and Basic S...
متن کاملUsing XML-Based Multicasting to Improve Web Service Scalability
Web services’ (WS) emphasis on open standards provides substantial benefits over previous application integration techniques. A major WS feature is SOAP, a simple, robust and extensible XML-based protocol for the exchange of messages. For this reason, SOAP WS on virtual hosts are now widely used to provide shared functionalities on clouds. Unfortunately, SOAP has two major performance-related d...
متن کاملFacilitating Complex Web Service Interactions through a Tuplespace Binding
The SOAP messaging framework, as one key technology of the Web service technology standard stack, defines a standardized message format for Web service interactions, a set of rules governing their processing and a mechanism that describes how SOAP messages can be transmitted over different network transport protocols, called SOAP bindings. The most prominent example for a Web service transport ...
متن کاملS-MAS: An adaptive hierarchical distributed multi-agent architecture for blocking malicious SOAP messages within Web Services environments
During the last years the use of Web Service-based applications has notably increased. However, the security has not evolved proportionally, which makes these applications vulnerable and objective of attacks. One of the most common attacks requiring novel solutions is the denial of service attack (DoS), caused for the modifications introduced in the XML of the SOAP messages. The specifications ...
