چکیده

circuit offer some hindrance to the movement of electrons. Some conductive materials allow electrons to move more freely than others and are said to have low resistance. The unit of measurement for resistance is the ohm (Ω). Resistance can cause a problem at the interface between the electrode and the skin as the skin has high resistance and is also well supplied with sensory nerve endings. This can make it difficult to input sufficient electrical energy into the tissues without the sensation becoming unbearable for the patient. A water-based lubricant can help to reduce the resistance between the skin and electrode.

Effect of multi-session trans-cranial direct current stimulation of dorsolateral prefrontal area on depression and drowsines in patients with multiple sclerosis

Introduction: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is one of the most common diseases of the central nervous system with high prevalence in the world and Iran. The common complications of disease are depression and drowsiness. Due to structural and functional brain changes following depression and drowsiness in patients with MS, brain electrical stimulation may be considered as an effective intervention in ...

Neuromuscular stimulation after stroke: from technology to clinical deployment.

Since the early 1960s, electrical or neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) has been used to support the rehabilitation of stroke patients. One of the earliest applications of NMES included the use of external muscle stimulation to correct drop-foot after stroke. During the last few decades various clinical applications have been used for the upper and lower limb. Despite a growing body of...

The effects of surface neuromuscular electrical stimulation on post-stroke dysphagia: a systemic review and meta-analysis.

OBJECTIVE In this study, we intended to evaluate whether swallow treatment with neuromuscular electrical stimulation is superior to that without neuromuscular electrical stimulation, and whether neuromuscular electrical stimulation alone is superior to swallow therapy. METHODS We searched the PubMed and Scopus databases from their earliest record to 31 December 2014 for randomized and quasi-r...

Facial Rehabilitation

Facial nerve palsy (FNP) changes facial expression and leads to functional problems in facial movement and negative psychological effect on patients. Fortunately, some of FNP problems recover completely, but some others remain with some sequelae like asymmetry, muscle contracture, synkinesis, and hyperkinesias that need rehabilitation. This article aimed to investigate physiotherapy modalit...
