Iterated Function Systems as Human Perceivable Spectral Tests of Randomness

چکیده
The deterministic generation of pseudorandom sequences is not a trivial task. Quite the contrary; even chaotic functions are often poor pseudorandom sequence generators. Thus, given the range of applications that require random inputs and the cost of actual random number generating equipment, the establishment of reliable tests of randomness becomes necessary. To day, the spectral test seems to be the only reliable test for randomness, as it can examine the correlation between successive symbols in a sequence. The drawback of the spectral test is that its results can only be visualized when comparing for correlation between consecutive pairs or triplets of symbols, while larger groups of symbols can only be examined mechanistically. In this paper, after reviewing the main points of random number and chaotic functions theory, we introduce a 2-dimensional spectral test of randomness that is based on iterated function systems (IFSs) and use it to examine the quality of various chaotic functions as random number generators and to draw conclusions on the randomness of sequences produced by deterministic processes. Key-Words: Spectral test, pseudorandom sequence, Iterated Function System (IFS), chaotic function.

Rotation number and its properties for iterated function and non-autonomous systems
The main purpose of this paper is to introduce the rotation number for non-autonomous and iterated function systems. First, we define iterated function systems and the lift of these types of systems on the unit circle. In the following, we define the rotation number and investigate the conditions of existence and uniqueness of this number for our systems. Then, the notions rotational entropy an...
متن کاملAttractors of Sequences of Iterated Function Systems
If F and G are iterated function systems, then any infinite word W in the symbols F and G induces a limit set. It is natural to ask whether this Cantor set can also be realized as the limit set of a single C iterated function system H. We prove that under certain assumptions on F and G, the answer is no. This problem is motivated by the spectral theory of one-dimensional quasicrystals.

In this paper, the new concept of non-autonomous iterated function system is introduced and also shown that non-autonomous iterated function system IFS(f_(1,∞)^0,f_(1,∞)^1) is topologically transitive for the metric space of X whenever the system has average shadowing property and its minimal points on X are dense. Moreover, such a system is topologically transitive, whenever, there is a point ...

We introduce a Fourier based harmonic analysis for a class of discrete dynamical systems which arise from Iterated Function Systems. Our starting point is the following pair of special features of these systems. (1) We assume that a measurable space X comes with a finite-to-one endomorphism r : X → X which is onto but not one-to-one. (2) In the case of affine Iterated Function Systems (IFSs) in...
