A Physiological Model for Motion - stereo Integration and aUni

چکیده
Many psychophysical and physiological experiments indicate that visual motion analysis and stereoscopic depth perception are processed together in the brain. However, little computational e ort has been devoted to combining these two visual modalities into a common framework based on physiological mechanisms. We present such an integrated model in this paper. We have previously developed a physiologically realistic model for binocular disparity computation (Qian, 1994). Here we demonstrate that under some general and physiological assumptions, our stereo vision model can be combined naturally with motion energy models to achieve motionstereo integration. The integrated model may be used to explain a wide range of experimental observations regarding motion-stereo interaction. As an example, we show that the model can provide a uni ed account of the classical Pulfrich e ect (Morgan and Thompson, 1975) and the generalized Pulfrich phenomena to dynamic noise patterns (Tyler, 1974; Falk, 1980) and stroboscopic stimuli (Burr and Ross, 1979). متن کامل3D Hand Motion Evaluation Using HMM
Gesture and motion recognition are needed for a variety of applications. The use of human hand motions as a natural interface tool has motivated researchers to conduct research in the modeling, analysis and recognition of various hand movements. In particular, human-computer intelligent interaction has been a focus of research in vision-based gesture recognition. In this work, we introduce a 3-...
متن کاملA neural model for the integration of stereopsis and motion parallax in structure from motion
We introduce a model for the computation of structure-from-motion based on the physiology of visual cortical areas MT and MST. The model assumes that the perception of depth from motion is related to the firing of a subset of MT neurons tuned to both velocity and disparity. The model's MT neurons are connected to each other laterally to form modulatory receptive-field surrounds that are gated b...

متن کاملDichoptic motion perception limited to depth of fixation?
When counterphase spatio-temporal flicker is presented to the left and right eye continuous directional motion can be perceived. Here, we investigate whether this type of dichoptic motion can be observed at different depth planes. Four observers indicated direction of motion for dichoptic motion stimuli, presented in a context containing crossed and uncrossed disparity information in different ...
