Analysis of NK-xor Landscapes

چکیده

The NK-xor landscapes are a class of optimization problems with adjustable ruggedness of its fitness landscape. The optimal value for each of the loci is dependent upon a k-neighbourhood of this locus. A set of these landscapes is analyzed and the evolution of certain generic algorithms when applied to these fitness-landscapes is approximated by means of a transmision-function model. 1991 Mathematics Subject Classification: 68T05, 68T2

Analysis of fitness landscape modifications in evolutionary dynamic optimization

In this work, discrete dynamic optimization problems (DOPs) are theoretically analysed according to the modifications produced in the fitness landscape during the optimization process. Using the proposed analysis framework, the following DOPs are analysed: problems generated by the XOR DOP generator, three versions of the dynamic 0–1 knapsack problem, one problem involving evolutionary robots i...

A Walsh Analysis of NK-Landscapes

We use Walsh analysis to show NK-Landscapes form an extremely restricted set of functions out of the set of N bit functions that have interactions between K+1 or fewer bits. Several upper bounds on the extent of the coverage by NK-Landscapes are created based on theory developed in the paper.

Draft: yet to be submitted: An analysis of NK and generalized NK landscapes

Simulated landscapes have been used for several decades to evaluate search strategies whose goal is to find the landscape location with maximum fitness. Applications of simulated landscapes include modeling the capacity of enzymes to catalyze reactions or ligands to bind to proteins, and the clinical effectiveness of medical treatments. Understanding properties of landscapes is important for un...

2-bit Flip Mutation Elementary Fitness Landscapes

Genetic Programming parity with only XOR is not elementary. GP parity can be represented as the sum of k/2 + 1 elementary landscapes. Statistics, including fitness distance correlation (FDC), of Parity’s fitness landscape are calculated. Using Walsh analysis the eigen values and eigenvectors of the Laplacian of the two bit flip fitness landscape are given. Tests support λ/d as a measure of the ...
