ACCURACY AND EFFICIENCY OF FLOW COMPUTATIONS WITH TURBULENCE MODELS OF k- TYPE
نویسنده
چکیده
The accuracy and efficiency of flow computations with two-equation statistical turbulence models of ktype, which are widely used in engineering practice, is investigated. With respect to wall boundary treatment special emphasis is paid to lowReynolds-number approaches directly resolving viscous sublayers. The standard wall functions approach is considered for comparison. As a basic flow solver a parallel multi-grid finite-volume method of second order with implicit time discretization is employed, which for laminar has cases turned out to work rather efficiently with respect to accuracy and computational performance. The investigations involve statistically steady and unsteady flow situations. By considering representative test cases various aspects of the components of the numerical scheme determining the accuracy and efficiency of the computations are studied.

In this paper, implementation of an extended form of a no-slip wall boundary condition is presented for the three-dimensional (3-D) lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) for solving the incompressible fluid flows with complex geometries. The boundary condition is based on the off-lattice scheme with a polynomial interpolation which is used to reconstruct the curved or irregular wall boundary on the ne...
متن کاملImproving Accuracy in α-Models of Turbulence through Approximate Deconvolution
In this report, we present several results in the theory of α-models of turbulence with improved accuracy that have been developed in recent years. The α-models considered herein are the Leray-α model, the zeroth Approximate Deconvolution Model (ADM) turbulence model, the modified Leray-α and the Navier–Stokes-α model. For all of the models from above, the accuracy is limited to α2 in smooth fl...

متن کاملEvaluation of the Neuro-Fuzzy and Hybrid Wavelet-Neural Models Efficiency in River Flow Forecasting (Case Study: Mohmmad Abad Watershed)
One of the most important issues in watersheds management is rainfall-runoff hydrological process forecasting. Using new models in this field can contribute to proper management and planning. In addition, river flow forecasting, especially in flood conditions, will allow authorities to reduce the risk of flood damage. Considering the importance of river flow forecasting in water resources ma...
