21 Protection Studies by Antioxidants Using Single

چکیده
Oxidation-reduction reactions, simply referred as “redox” reactions, describe all the chemical reactions in which atoms have their oxidation state changed. This can either be a simple redox process like the oxidation of carbon (C) to carbon dioxide (CO2) or the reduction of C by hydrogen (H) to yield methane (CH4). However, in biology redox reactions are rather complex and ‘redox biology’ is fundamental to aerobic life (Peters et al., 2008; Baliga et al., 2007). The simplest example to give is the oxidation of glucose to CO2 and water in photosynthesis (Halliwell, 2006).

Objective: Ipomoea mauritiana is used in both Ayurveda and folk medicine systems. The tuberous roots are known to be diuretic, depurative, carminative, and anthelmintic. The objective of the current study was to identify phenolic antioxidants from I. mauritiana using spectrophotometric and LC-MS analysis. Materials and Methods: An activity-guided fractionation and purification process was used t...
متن کاملA review on nutrition and skin aging
Background: Skin reflects the general health status and is not an exception in the process of aging. Intervention studies indicate that it is possible to delay skin aging and improve skin conditions through diet-based anti-aging strategies. The purpose of the current work was to review recent existing literature regarding the role of nutrition, for and against skin aging processes.Method: This ...
متن کاملLiposomal Antioxidants for Protection against Oxidant-Induced Damage
Reactive oxygen species (ROS), including superoxide anion, hydrogen peroxide, and hydroxyl radical, can be formed as normal products of aerobic metabolism and can be produced at elevated rates under pathophysiological conditions. Overproduction and/or insufficient removal of ROS result in significant damage to cell structure and functions. In vitro studies showed that antioxidants, when applied...
