A Video-Rate Stereo System by Integration of Two Algorithms with/without Occlusion Handling

چکیده
This paper proposes a novel architecture for video-rate stereo machine. It is unfeasible to directly implement a video-rate machine with occlusion handling mechanism, because the computational cost for the correspondence search is higher than that of a simple polynocular stereo algorithm without occlusion handling. Our idea is to integrate two algorithms withlwithout occlusion handling mechanism in a framework of video-rate stereo machine. By switching two depth maps using motion information, the video-rate depth map is output for dynamic regions, while for static regions is given the dense depth map with sharp object boundaries. We have implemented a prototype system by using a commercially available video-rate stereo machine and a PC with an occlusion detectable algorithm on it.

Handling occlusion in object tracking in stereoscopic video sequences
Stereo vision is a part of the field of computer vision that uses two or more cameras to obtain two or more images from which distance information can be obtained by using the triangulation principle [1]. We can obtain three-dimensional information of static scenes by using this technique. On the other hand, we can use optical flow algorithms for object tracking in two dimensional video sequenc...

Gait rehabilitation systems provide patients with guidance and feedback that assist them to better perform the rehabilitation tasks. Real-time feedback can guide users to correct their movements. Research has shown that the quality of feedback is crucial to enhance motor learning in physical rehabilitation. Common feedback systems based on virtual reality present interactive feedback in a monit...

متن کاملAdaptive Spectral Separation Two Layer Coding with Error Concealment for Cell Loss Resilience
This paper addresses the issue of cell loss and its consequent effect on video quality in a packet video system, and examines possible compensative measures. In the system's enconder, adaptive spectral separation is used to develop a two-layer coding scheme comprising a high priority layer to carry essential video data and a low priority layer with data to enhance the video image. A two-step er...

This paper introduces the concept of geo-consistency to overcome the occlusion problems associated with wide-baseline multiple-camera stereo. By expressing more formally the geometric relationship between occlusion and visibility, it provides a new tool to understand and compare the behavior of stereo algorithms. In this context, we present a new visibility mask handling that can render most re...
