Potentiation of hydralazine-induced convulsion by isoniazid in rats.

چکیده
Although many reports indicate side effects of hydralazine (HP) in clinical use, such as arteritis and systemic lupus erythematosus (l-31, no report on central nervous system toxicity has appeared. On the other hand, it is well established that isoniazid (INH) causes convulsion or seizure in experimental animals at high doses, which may be attributed to the decrease in gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) level in the brain(4,5). The present study was designed to investigate the toxic effect of HP on the central nervous system by using convulsion and mortality as indicators in rats given HP alone and in combination with INH.

P-36: Evaluating The Effect of Lactobacillus Acidophilus and Bifidobacterium on Spermatogenesis Index of Testicular Tissue in Isoniazid-Induced Rats
Background: Isoniazid is an important drug in first line of treating the tuberculosis disease. This drug can lead to damages in different parts of the body such as liver and testis. Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium are the probiotics that have the important innate property that inhibit from passing of Isoniazid into the blood-testis-barrier. In point of spermatogenesis indexes whic...
متن کاملAltered renin release and propranolol potentiation of vasodilatory drug hypotension.
Vasodilating antihypertensive drugs induce hypotension with reflex tachycardia, renin release, and fluid and electrolyte retention. Propranolol can impair this renin release. The studies described here were designed to determine the hemodynamic role of vasodilatory drug-induced renin release and inhibition thereof by propranolol in two animals models, the unanesthetized, normotensive and the un...
متن کاملCharacterization of the Effects of Phosphodiesterases (PDEs) Isozyme Inhibitors in Animal Models of Epilepsy
Epilepsy is a neurological disorder. Phosphodiesterase (PDE) enzymes are responsible for the hydrolysis of the cyclic nucleotides and therefore have a critical role in regulating intracellular levels of the second messengers cAMP, cGMP, and hence cell function as well as downstream signaling in the various body systems This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of phosphodiesterase isozyme...
متن کاملInteraction between isoniazid and diverse vasodilators: role of decreased cerebral GABA.
OBJECTIVE To determine if the interaction between isoniazid and hydralazine, consisting of increased hypotension accompanied by bradycardia, occurs with other vasodilators. METHODS Blood pressure and heart rate responses to a number of vasodilators were determined in rats under chloralose-urethane, pretreated or not with 250 mg/kg of isoniazid. The influence of this dose of isoniazid on GABA ...
متن کاملProtective Effects of Enriched Environment Against Transient Cerebral Ischemia-Induced Impairment of Passive Avoidance Memory and Long-Term Potentiation in Rats
Introduction: Enriched Environment (EE), a complex novel environment, has been demonstrated to improve synaptic plasticity in both injured and intact animals. The present study investigated the capacity of an early environmental intervention to normalize the impairment of passive avoidance memory and Long-Term Potentiation (LTP) induced by transient bilateral common carotid artery occlusion (2-...
