چکیده

We introduce carbon onto boron sites in MgB2 . The resulting changes in crystal lattice constants and superconducting transition temperature Tc are characterized by x-ray-diffraction, magnetic susceptibility, and electrical resistance measurements. The consequence of approximately 10% carbon doping of boron sites is a 1% contraction of the intraplane lattice dimension ~with no appreciable change in the interplane dimension! and a lowering of Tc by approximately 7 K. The relative contributions to the shift in Tc from lattice contraction and charge transfer are evaluated.

Superconducting properties of carbonaceous chemical doped MgB2

The discovery of superconductivity in magnesium diboride (MgB2: 39 K, in January 2001) (Nagamatsu et al., 2001) has generated enormous interest and excitement in the superconductivity community and the world in general, but especially among researchers into superconductivity in non-oxide and boron related compounds.

Effects of two-band superconductivity on the flux-line lattice in magnesium diboride.

We present neutron scattering from the flux line lattice (FLL) in MgB2. Between 0.5 and 0.9 T the FLL undergoes a 30 degrees reorientation, and simultaneously the scattered intensity falls sharply consistent with the weaker superconducting pi band being suppressed with increasing field. We speculate that the pi and sigma bands favor different FLL orientations, and that the reorientation is driv...

Why magnesium diboride is not described by anisotropic Ginzburg-Landau theory.

It is well established that the superconductivity in the recently discovered superconducting compound MgB2 resides in the quasi-two-dimensional band (sigma band) and three-dimensional band (pi band). We demonstrate that, due to such band structure, the anisotropic Ginzburg-Landau theory practically does not have a region of applicability, because gradient expansion in the c direction breaks dow...
