چکیده

In the context of the centipede game this paper discusses a solution concept for extensive games that is based on subgame perfection and uncertainty aversion. Players who deviate from the equilibrium path are considered nonrational. Rational players who face non-rational opponents face genuine uncertainty and may have non-additive beliefs about their future play. Rational players are boundedly uncertainty averse and maximise Choquet expected utility. It is shown that if the centipede game is sufficiently long, then the equilibrium strategy is to play ‘Across’ early in the game and to play ‘Down’ late in the game. CARESS Working Paper 99 - 03 A Bayesian Approach to Uncertainty Aversion 1 Yoram Halevy

The Ellsberg paradox demonstrates that people’s belief over uncertain events might not be representable by subjective probability. We relate this paradox to other commonly observed anomalies, such as a rejection of the backward induction prediction in the one-shot Ultimatum Game. We argue that the pattern common to these observations is that the behavior is governed by “rational rules”. These r...

Backward Induced Probability Models

This paper describes how to specify probability models for data analysis via a backward induction procedure. The new approach yields coherent, priorfree uncertainty assessment. The backward induction approach is first demonstrated on two familiar models — the Bernoulli distribution and the Gaussian distribution — to compare the resulting specifications to their standard counterparts arising as ...

Ambiguous Aversion; A Descriptive Model of Human Behaviour based on Quran

Background and Aim: The current study aimed to investigate "ambiguous aversion behavior" based on Quran explains. The lack of "Descriptive Models of Human Behaviour" (DMHB) is one of the oldest anomalies in behavioral sciences. It's because different scientific demands to understand, predict and control human behavior. Specially, ambiguous aversion that is a common behavior and extremely influe...

Do players reason by forward induction in dynamic perfect information games?

We conducted an experiment where participants played a perfect-information game against a computer, which was programmed to deviate often from its backward induction strategy right at the beginning of the game. Participants knew that in each game, the computer was nevertheless optimizing against some belief about the participant’s future strategy. It turned out that in the aggregate, participan...
