by reduction in size of the testis through degenerative changes. Both teratoma testis and small testis occur about three times more frequently on the left side than on the right, and it is suggested that similar etiological factors, which may be associated with gonadal migration, are involved. There seems to be a correlation between the size of a teratoma and the number of tissue types it contains. The simplest teratomas examined were composed of undifferentiated embryonic tissue, nervous tissue, and cysts lined with cuboidal epithelium. The more complex tumors contained several additional tissue types. It is suggested that differentiated elements stem from pluripotent embryonic-type cells. Fifteen spontaneous teratomas have been transplanted. Of these, all have taken, but only one has developed into a rapidly growing transplantable tumor. This transplantable tumor consists of undifferentiated cells which grow both subcutaneously and in the ascitic fluid. It is pointed out that an inbred strain of mice in which a relatively large percentage of males develop testicular teratomas may be an important tool in the study of some hitherto unexplored aspects of the biology of these interesting growths.

Design and Simulation of Photoneutron Source by MCNPX Monte Carlo Code for Boron Neutron Capture Therapy
Introduction Electron linear accelerator (LINAC) can be used for neutron production in Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT). BNCT is an external radiotherapeutic method for the treatment of some cancers. In this study, Varian 2300 C/D LINAC was simulated as an electron accelerator-based photoneutron source to provide a suitable neutron flux for BNCT. Materials and Methods Photoneutron sources w...

متن کاملInvestigation the potential of Boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) to treat the lung cancer
Introduction: Boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) is recommended to treat the glioblastoma tumor. It is well known that neuron beams are more effective treatment than photon beams to treat hypoxia tumors due to interaction of neutron with nucleus and production of heavy particles such as 7Li and alpha particle. In this study to evaluate the suitability of BNCT for treating of ...

Introduction: Neutrons have many applications in various fields, such as medicine. The important application of neutron in medical science is in Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT). Because of this, determination of neutron dose and flux is critical for the health maintaining of workers and patients exposed to this beam. The neutron radioisotope sources produce gamma rays in ...
متن کاملOptimum neutron energy simulation in treatment of head and neck cancer at different depths in the BNCT method
Introduction: Recently head and neck cancer has pay attention to many researchers. Its therapeutic methods include surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and Boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT). BNCT is better than conventional radiotherapy because it targets the tumor cell. This method involves two steps of infusion of stable 10B and then neutron radiation with a suitable intens...
