Improving Mobile IPv6 handover and authentication in wireless network with E-HCF

چکیده
Mobile IP allows a mobile node to maintain a continuous connectivity to the Internet when moving from one access point to another. However, due to the link switching delay and to the Mobile IP handover operations, packets designated to mobile nodes can be delayed or lost during the handover period. Moreover, every time a new attach point is confirmed, the mobile node, its home agent and its corresponding node must be authenticated mutually. This paper presents a new control function called Extended Handover Control Function (E-HCF) in order to improve the handover performance and the authentication in the context of Mobile IPv6 over wireless networks. With an analytical model and some OPNET simulations, we show in this paper that our solution allows to provide low latency, low packet loss and mutual authentication to the standard handover of Mobile IPv6.

Mobile IPv6 is a network-layer solution to node mobility for the IPv6 Internet. It allows a mobile node to maintain a continuous connection from one access point to another. MIPv6 introduces several security vulnerabilities such as the authentication and authorization of Binding Updates (BUs) during the home agent registration process. This paper deals with securing the standard mobile IPv6 han...

متن کاملPartial Bicasting with Buffering for Proxy Mobile IPv6 Handover in Wireless Networks
This paper addresses the Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIP) handover using bicasting in mobile/wireless networks. The bicasting scheme can be used to support the PMIP handover, which tends to waste the network resources of wireless links and incurs data losses during handover. We propose an enhanced scheme of PMIP handover, called the partial bicasting with buffering for PMIP (PBB-PMIP). In the PBB-PMIP ...

In comparison with other existing methods, PMIPv6 has decreased signaling overhead and the...
