چکیده

In this paper we propose a new method for overcoming the problem of adjusting for the multiple testing problem in the context of testing random number generators. We suggest it is to be used in conjunction with an existing method. More generally, the method can be useful in other situations where the multiple testing issue is encountered and the tests involved are not independent of each other, and their exact joint distribution is not readily available. The method makes use of the Mahalanobis distance and simulation. An example of its implementation is given using data from a roulette wheel.

TESTING FOR “RANDOMNESS” IN SPATIAL POINT PATTERNS, USING TEST STATISTICS BASED ON ONE-DIMENSIONAL INTER-EVENT DISTANCES

To test for “randomness” in spatial point patterns, we propose two test statistics that are obtained by “reducing” two-dimensional point patterns to the one-dimensional one. Also the exact and asymptotic distribution of these statistics are drawn.

A scalarization-based method for multiple part-type scheduling of two-machine robotic systems with non-destructive testing technologies

This paper analyzes the performance of a robotic system with two machines in which machines are configured in a circular layout and produce non-identical parts repetitively. The non-destructive testing (NDT) is performed by a stationary robotic arm located in the center of the circle, or a cluster tool. The robotic arm integrates multiple tasks, mainly the NDT of the part and its transition bet...

TESTING STATISTICAL HYPOTHESES UNDER FUZZY DATA AND BASED ON A NEW SIGNED DISTANCE

This paper deals with the problem of testing statisticalhypotheses when the available data are fuzzy. In this approach, wefirst obtain a fuzzy test statistic based on fuzzy data, and then, based on a new signed distance between fuzzy numbers, we introducea new decision rule to accept/reject the hypothesis of interest. The proposed approach is investigated for two cases: the casewithout nuisance p...

A Simulation Study on the Impact of Strong Dependence in High-Dimensional Multiple-Testing I: The Case without Effects

When working with high-dimensional biological data the so-called multiple hypothesis testing problem emerges. That is, when many separate tests are performed, several will be significant by chance provoking false positive results. Many statistical methods have been developed to deal with this problem. An important topic concerning multiple hypothesis testing efforts applied to highthroughput ex...

Testing for Stochastic Non- Linearity in the Rational Expectations Permanent Income Hypothesis

The Rational Expectations Permanent Income Hypothesis implies that consumption follows a martingale. However, most empirical tests have rejected the hypothesis. Those empirical tests are based on linear models. If the data generating process is non-linear, conventional tests may not assess some of the randomness properly. As a result, inference based on conventional tests of linear models can b...
