GaliLEO A SIMULATION TOOL FOR TRAFFIC ON LEO SATELLITE CONSTELLATIONS PRESENTATION OF THE ARCHITECTURE
نویسندگان
چکیده
The aim of this work is to create a tool that can simulate the transmission of both connectionoriented and connection-less traffic over a constellation of LEO/MEO (Low Earth Orbit/ Medium Earth Orbit) satellites. We hope to provide a performance evaluation of various constellation access techniques and routing policies. The simulator, named GaliLEO, will be written in Java and will integrate results from another simulator (CONSIM from CSELT, I) to study the impact of faults in system performance. GaliLEO should eventually become the simulation tool for the Cost253 action, thus providing a common tool for all studies taking place in the action. At the time of writing, considerable interest is being shown in GaliLEO.

متن کاملGaliLEO: A Simulation Tool for LEO Satellite Constellations
We present GaliLEO, a simulator for the transmission of connection-oriented traffic over a constellation of LEO/MEO (Low / Medium Earth Orbit) satellites. Its scope is limited to the satellites and the stations accessing them, without any modelling of the terrestrial network, but inside this scope the goal is to study the performance of satellitebased communication networks from as many as poss...
متن کاملAnalysis and Simulation of Delay and Buffer Requirements of satellite-ATM Networks for TCP/IP Traffic
In this paper we present a model to study the end-to-end delay performance of a satellite-ATM network. We describe a satellite-ATM network architecture. The architecture presents a trade-off between the on-board switching/processing features and the complexity of the satellite communication systems. The end-to-end delay of a connection passing through a satellite constellation consists of the t...
متن کاملSpatiotemporal Evaluation of GNSS-R Based on Future Fully Operational Global Multi-GNSS and Eight-LEO Constellations
Spaceborne GNSS-R (global navigation satellite system reflectometry) is an innovative and powerful bistatic radar remote sensing technique that uses specialized GNSS-R instruments on LEO (low Earth orbit) satellites to receive GNSS L-band signals reflected by the Earth’s surface. Unlike monostatic radar, the illuminated areas are elliptical regions centered on specular reflection points. Evalua...
متن کاملSimulation Platform for Relative Navigation Using GPS Carrier Phase Measurements for Satellite Formation Flying Missions
The use of Global Positioning System (GPS) technology for satellite formation flying missions has received more attention recently. The Carrier Phase Differential Global Positioning System (CDGPS) technique is generally employed to obtain relative position of a high accuracy. To validate the formation flying CDGPS algorithm, a simulation platform is necessary to simulate the GPS signals receive...
