Conditioned activity of cortical motor neurons.

چکیده
In awake rabbits, which received auditory stimuli paired with electric shock to a forelimb, the activity of 229 units were recorded. In 118 units conditioned responses were observed. In 68 units they were excitatory and in 50 units, inhibitory in accordance with the excitatory or inhibitory effect of the reinforcing stimulus. When the conditioned response appeared, 25 percent of the units showed a change of the response to reinforcement. In the majority of units conditioned responses could be extinguished and differentiation elaborated. Inhibitory conditioned unit activity is considered as one of the forms of internal inhibition.

Rapid Integration of Artificial Sensory Feedback during Operant Conditioning of Motor Cortex Neurons
Neuronal motor commands, whether generating real or neuroprosthetic movements, are shaped by ongoing sensory feedback from the displacement being produced. Here we asked if cortical stimulation could provide artificial feedback during operant conditioning of cortical neurons. Simultaneous two-photon imaging and real-time optogenetic stimulation were used to train mice to activate a single neuro...
متن کاملResponses of primary somatosensory cortical neurons to controlled mechanical stimulation.
The results of psychophysical studies suggest that displacement velocity may contribute significantly to the sensation of subcortical somatosensory neurons. The cortical correlates of these phenomena, however, are not known. In the present study the responses of rapidly adapting (RA) neurons in the forelimb region of cat primary somatosensory cortex (SI) to controlled displacement of skin and h...
متن کاملIntraanalyzer conditioned reflex properties of two-way connections of cortical neurons in cats.
One of the principles in the formation of integrating activity of the brain appears to be a two-way character of neuronal connections. Forward and backward conditioned connections demonstrate the acquired properties of two-way relations in the cerebral cortex. Interneuronal cortical connections and their modification in conditioned reflex activity were studied in a alert cats with chronically i...
متن کاملNeuronal mechanisms of conitioned placing reactions in cats.
Neuronal correlates of conditioned placing reaction of cats forepaw were studied. The conditioned reaction evoking by tactile stimulation of the paws ventral side had the same motor pattern, consisting mainly in successive flexion and extension of elbow joint, as the placing reaction evoked by paws dorsal side stimulation in naive animals. The activity of single neurons from the m. biceps re...
متن کاملThe Motor Cortex Is Involved in the Generation of Classically Conditioned Eyelid Responses in Behaving Rabbits.
UNLABELLED Classical blink conditioning is a well known model for studying neural generation of acquired motor responses. The acquisition of this type of associative learning has been related to many cortical, subcortical, and cerebellar structures. However, until now, no one has studied the motor cortex (MC) and its possible role in classical eyeblink conditioning. We recorded in rabbits the a...
