چکیده
This paper is the first of two from the Monetary Services Indices (MSI) Project at the Federal Reserve Bank ofSt. Louis. The second paper, Working Paper 96-008B, summarizes the methodology, construction and data sourcesfor the an extensive new database of monetary services indices, often referred to as Divisia monetary aggregates, for the United States. This paper surveys the microeconomic theory of the aggregation of monetary assets, bringing together results that are not otherwise readily available in a single source. In addition to indices of the flow ofmonetary services, the Project’s database contains dual user cost indices, measures of potential aggregation error in the monetary services indices, and measures of the stock of monetary wealth. An overview of the Project and the concept ofmonetary aggregation is included here as a preface. JEL CLASSIFICATION: C43, C82, E51

Simple sum monetary aggregation approach that based upon perfect substitution of monetary components assumption is inconsistent with microeconomics theories. In this research, using quarterly data of Iran over period 1370:1–1388:1, we first calculate monetary aggregation based on divisia index for both measures of money (M1, M2) and then estimate the demand functions for money for divisia and s...
متن کاملA robust aggregation operator for multi-criteria decision-making method with bipolar fuzzy soft environment
Molodtsov initiated soft set theory that provided a general mathematicalframework for handling with uncertainties in which we encounter the data by affix parameterized factor during the information analysis as differentiated to fuzzy as well as bipolar fuzzy set theory. The main object of this paper is to lay a foundation for providing a new application of bipolar fuzzy soft tool in ...
متن کاملIntertemporally Non-separable Monetary- Asset Risk Adjustment and Aggregation
Modern aggregation theory and index number theory were introduced into monetary economics by Barnett (1980). The widely used Divisia monetary aggregates were based upon that paper. A key result upon which the rest of the theory depended was Barnett’s derivation of the user-cost price of monetary assets. To make that critical part of Barnett’s results available prior to publication of that paper...
متن کاملBarnett , William A . Economic Monetary Aggregates : An Application of Index Number and Aggregation Theory
In this special issue we honor William Barnetts contributions in the eld of economics. Barnett is an eminent economic scientist, who indeed did begin his career as a rocket scientist, working on the development of the booster rocket engines for Apollo. He is the inventor of the Divisia monetary aggregates, the minex Laurent demand systems, and the asymptotically ideal model (AIM) demand syst...
متن کاملMultilateral Aggregation-Theoretic Monetary Aggregation over Heterogeneous Countries
We derive fundamental new theory for measuring monetary service flows aggregated over countries within a multicountry economic union. We develop three increasingly restrictive approaches: (1) the heterogeneous agents approach, (2) the multilateral representative agent approach, and (3) the unilateral representative agent approach. Our heterogeneous agents approach contains our multilateral repr...
