Laboratory Studies on Patients Receiving Anticoagulant Therapy.

چکیده
An investigation into the laboratory control of anticoagulant therapy is presented. The cases were divided into those in the first few weeks of therapy and those on long-term treatment. Variations in the levels of factors VII and X, and factor IX were assessed. Thromboplastin levels were used to control therapy. These were compared with parallel estimations by Thrombotest and with the levels of the coagulation factors. Thrombotest was found to have no major advantage over thromboplastin.

Background: The role of anticoagulant medications in preventing placental mediated pregnancy complications in patients with and without thrombophilia has not been investigated well. One underlying cause is associated with adverse effects of anticoagulants in pregnancy including teratogenicity, complexities in dosing and management of anticoagulants during pregnancy and labor. We aimed to assess...

When patients receiving continuous anticoagulant therapy are scheduled for dental surgery, a decision must be made whether to continue or interrupt the anticoagulant therapy. METHODS The author reviewed the literature, focusing on dent...
متن کاملLack of a scientific basis for routine discontinuation of oral anticoagulation therapy before dental treatment.
BACKGROUND There is a widespread belief among dental practitioners and physicians that oral anticoagulation therapy in which patients receive drugs such as warfarin sodium must be discontinued before dental treatment to prevent serious hemorrhagic complications, especially during and after surgical procedures. OVERVIEW The authors examine the scientific basis for properly managing the dosage ...

The effects of 3.2% and 3.8% sodium citrate concentration on the results of routine coagulation assays (prothrombin time [PT] and activated partial thromboplastin time [aPTT]) were evaluated by means of two sets of reagents, one responsive and the other nonresponsive. Five groups were entered in the study: healthy volunteers; outpatients receiving stable oral anticoagulant therapy; and hospital...
