context and for a given individual to, consequently, improve the individual’s performance on a specific task. The wearable (AR) system architecture should also be designed as an extendable, flexible, interoperable, reusable, and scalable infrastructure to support the integration of additional components without impacting the core system/software architecture design and to facilitate standard data exchange.

Using Augmented Reality to Visualise Architecture Designs in an Outdoor Environment
This paper presents the use of a wearable computer system to visualise outdoor architectural features using augmented reality. The paper examines the question How does one visualise a design for a building, modification to a building, or extension to an existing building relative to its physical surroundings? The solution presented to this problem is to use a mobile augmented reality platform t...
متن کاملTowards Massively Multi-user Augmented Reality on Handheld Devices
Augmented Reality (AR) can naturally complement mobile computing on wearable devices by providing an intuitive interface to a three-dimensional information space embedded within physical reality. Unfortunately, current wearable AR systems are relatively complex, expensive, fragile and heavy, rendering them unfit for large-scale deployment involving untrained users outside constrained laboratory...
متن کاملCollaborative Augmented Reality: A Prototype for Industrial Training
In this paper, we describe a prototype of a collaborative industrial teletraining system, based on distributed augmented reality. Augmented reality typically interfaced by a wearable computer is a natural method to present computer-based tools by merging graphics with a view of the real world. Distribution enables users on remote sites to collaborate on the training tasks by sharing the view of...
متن کامل3D Audio Augmented Reality: Implementation and Experiments
Augmented Reality (AR) presentations may be visual or auditory. Auditory presentation has the potential to provide hands-free and visually non-obstructing cues. Recently, we have developed a 3D audio wearable system that can be used to provide alerts and informational cues to a mobile user in such a manner as to appear to emanate from specific locations in the user’s environment. In order to st...
متن کاملMobile Augmented Reality Archæological Reconstruction
This paper describes a mobile augmented reality system, based around a wearable computer, that can be used to provide in situ tours around archæological sites. Ergonomic considerations, intended to make the system usable by the general public, are described. The accuracy of the system is assessed, as this is critical for in situ reconstructions.
