High resolution temperature and density profiles during the energy quench of density limit disruptions in Rijnhuizen tokamak project

چکیده
Measurements of the electron temperature, Te , and density, ne , during the energy quench of a major disruption showed that the onset of Te erosion in the neighborhood of the m/n52/1 O point at the low field side ~LFS! accelerates the well-known m/n51/1 erosion of the core temperature. During this phase Te(r) is only partially flat in the region between the q52 and the q51 surfaces and ne(r) decreases in the core and increases inside the m/n52/1 island. Immediately after the flattening of Te(r) a large peak in Te and to a lesser extent in ne has been observed. This peak is radially localized at the q52 radius at the LFS, is very short lived and is poloidally asymmetric. Te profiles measured by the heterodyne radiometer and the Thomson scattering agree very well up to the time Te(r) flattens but afterwards can be a factor of two different. © 2002 American Institute of Physics. @DOI: 10.1063/1.1489675#

Radiated power measurement during the thermal quench phase of a density limit disruption
Radiated power measurements taken during the thermal quench of a density limit disruption in the DIII-D tokamak @J. L. Luxon, Nucl. Fusion 42, 614 ~2002!# demonstrate that ten times more power is radiated from the main chamber than is deposited into the divertor floor. This contrasts with the standard picture of the thermal quench of disruptions, where energy is lost along open field lines into...

A series of BOUT @X. Q. Xu et al., Phys. Plasmas 7, 1951 ~2000!# simulations is conducted to investigate the physical processes which limit the density in tokamak plasmas. Simulations of turbulence in tokamak boundary plasmas are presented which show that turbulent fluctuation levels and transport increase with collisionality. At high edge density, the perpendicular turbulent transport dominate...
متن کاملCold Bubble Formation during Tokamak Density Limit Disruptions
Tokamak density limit disruptions are studied by tomographically analysing soft X-ray emission data using a modified circular harmonic reconstruction technique. Both minor and major disruptions are associated with the presence of dominant m = l in = 1 and m = 2in = 1 soft X-ray emissivity perturbations leading to the penetration of a cold bubble-like plasma volume to the centre. The role of mod...

The electron density and temperature profiles measured by the Thomson scattering diagnostic on the COMPASS tokamak are used for estimation of electron kinetic energy, energy confinement time, and effective charge number Z(eff). Data are compared with the line-integrated electron density measured by a microwave interferometer in an ohmically heated plasma with a circular cross section. An error ...

In order to determine the fusion energy gain in a target due to inertial confinement fusion, it is necessary to solve hydrodynamic equations governed on plasma behavior during confinement time. To compress spherical multilayer targets having fuel in the central part, they are irradiated by laser or heavy ion beams. A suitable mass ratio of a pusher is used to ignite the central part of the ta...
