چکیده

In this paper we consider the construction of optimal tests of equivalence hypotheses. Specifically, assume X1, . . . ,Xn are i.i.d. with distribution Pθ, with θ ∈ R . Let g(θ) be some real-valued parameter of interest. The null hypothesis asserts g(θ) / ∈ (a, b) versus the alternative g(θ)∈ (a, b). For example, such hypotheses occur in bioequivalence studies where one may wish to show two drugs, a brand name and a proposed generic version, have the same therapeutic effect. Little optimal theory is available for such testing problems, and it is the purpose of this paper to provide an asymptotic optimality theory. Thus, we provide asymptotic upper bounds for what is achievable, as well as asymptotically uniformly most powerful test constructions that attain the bounds. The asymptotic theory is based on Le Cam’s notion of asymptotically normal experiments. In order to approximate a general problem by a limiting normal problem, a UMP equivalence test is obtained for testing the mean of a multivariate normal mean.

OPTIMAL STATISTICAL TESTS BASED ON FUZZY RANDOM VARIABLES

A novel approach is proposed for the problem of testing statistical hypotheses about the fuzzy mean of a fuzzy random variable. The concept of the (uniformly) most powerful test is extended to the (uniformly) most powerful fuzzy-valued test in which the test function is a fuzzy set representing the degrees of rejection and acceptance of the hypothesis of interest. For this purpose, the concepts o...

Testing fuzzy hypotheses with vague data

The problem of testing fuzzy hypotheses in the presence of vague data is considered. A new method based on the necessity index of strict dominance (NSD) is suggested. An example hoe to apply the proposed test in statistical quality control is shown.

Fuzzy decision in testing hypotheses by fuzzy data: Two case studies

In testing hypotheses, we may confront with cases where data are recorded as non-precise (fuzzy) rather than crisp. In such situations, the classical methods of testing hypotheses are not capable and need to be generalized. In solving the problem of testing hypotheses based on fuzzy data, the fuzziness of the observed data leads to the fuzzy p-value. This paper has been focused to calculate fuz...

Fuzzy decision making in testing hypotheses: An introduction to the packages ``FPV" and ``Fuzzy.p.value" with practical examples

This paper reviews and compares two R packages ``FPV" and ``Fuzzy.p.value".These packages are designed for testing hypotheses in a fuzzy environment using a fuzzy $p$-value based approach. In fact, the packages ``FPV" and ``Fuzzy.p.value" propose some useful functions for testing hypotheses when the data / hypotheses are fuzzy rather than crisp. The proposed methods and function...

Estimating equivalence with quantile regression.

Equivalence testing and corresponding confidence interval estimates are used to provide more enlightened statistical statements about parameter estimates by relating them to intervals of effect sizes deemed to be of scientific or practical importance rather than just to an effect size of zero. Equivalence tests and confidence interval estimates are based on a null hypothesis that a parameter es...
