Incompressibility Estimates for the Laughlin Phase, Part Ii

چکیده
We consider fractional quantum Hall states built on Laughlin’s original Nbody wave-functions, i.e., they are of the form holomorphic × gaussian and vanish when two particles come close, with a given polynomial rate. Such states appear naturally when looking for the ground state of 2D particles in strong magnetic fields, interacting via repulsive forces and subject to an external potential due to trapping and/or disorder. We prove that all functions in this class satisfy a universal local density upper bound, in a suitable weak sense. Such bounds are useful to investigate the response of fractional quantum Hall phases to variations of the external potential. Contrary to our previous results for a restricted class of wave-functions, the bound we obtain here is not optimal, but it does not require any additional assumptions on the wave-function, besides analyticity and symmetry of the pre-factor modifying the Laughlin function.

Incompressibility Estimates for the Laughlin Phase
This paper has its motivation in the study of the Fractional Quantum Hall Effect. We consider 2D quantum particles submitted to a strong perpendicular magnetic field, reducing admissible wave functions to those of the Lowest Landau Level. When repulsive interactions are strong enough in this model, highly correlated states emerge, built on Laughlin’s famous wave function. We investigate a model...
متن کاملFractional Charge in Quantum Hall effect
In 1976 Jackiw and Rebbi found 1/2 of a fermion number by using Dirac equation. Schrieffer, in several proposals made an effort to suggest that there is a fractional charge. The calculations of Peierls distortion, Berry’s phase and classical action were presented to accomodate the fractional charge in non-relativistic theory. Laughlin used the antisymmetry to define the charge density per unit ...

The incompressibility method is an elementary yet powerful proof technique. It has been used successfully in many areas [8]. To further demonstrate its power and elegance we exhibit new simple proofs using the incompressibility method.

In the first part (Part I) of this study, a novel fluidized bed reactor was modeled mathematically for methanol synthesis in the presence of in-situ water adsorbent named Sorption Enhanced Fluidized-bed Reactor (SE-FMR) is modeled, mathematically. Here, the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm-II (NSGA-II) is applied for multi-objective optimization of this configuration. Inlet temperature o...
متن کاملEstimation for the Type-II Extreme Value Distribution Based on Progressive Type-II Censoring
In this paper, we discuss the statistical inference on the unknown parameters and reliability function of type-II extreme value (EVII) distribution when the observed data are progressively type-II censored. By applying EM algorithm, we obtain maximum likelihood estimates (MLEs). We also suggest approximate maximum likelihood estimators (AMLEs), which have explicit expressions. We provide Bayes ...
