Relations with the modeling of channel assignment problems on multi-hop wireless networks and edge coloring problems of graphs

چکیده
Multi-hop wireless networks [1] are autonomous systems of mobile nodes connected by wireless links and consist of nodes and wireless links. The nodes are classified into two kinds: one is a mobile terminal such as mobile phone, personal computer, handheld computer, Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) and so on, each of which has a router communication function for other terminals and the other is a special terminal that acts only as a router for mobile terminals and has a long-life or a permanent battery(Fig.1). Such multi-hop wireless networks are useful in various applications when cellular infrastructure is neither available nor realistic or when ubiquitous communication services are required without the presence or use of a fixed infrastructure. For multi-hop wireless networks, we assign channels to communication between two terminals. This channel assignment problems are modelled to edge coloring problems in graph theory. In the previous paper[4],[6] we defined a new edge coloring problem called middle edge coloring and discussed the property of the coloring. In this paper, we consider appropriate models of the channel assignment problems.

In recent years a new type of wireless networks named wireless mesh networks has drawn the attention of researchers. In order to increase the capacity of mesh network, nodes are equipped with multiple radios tuned on multiple channels emerging multi radio multi channel wireless mesh networks. Therefore, the main challenge of these networks is how to properly assign the channels to the radios. O...
متن کاملA Novel Multicast Tree Construction Algorithm for Multi-Radio Multi-Channel Wireless Mesh Networks
Many appealing multicast services such as on-demand TV, teleconference, online games and etc. can benefit from high available bandwidth in multi-radio multi-channel wireless mesh networks. When multiple simultaneous transmissions use a similar channel to transmit data packets, network performance degrades to a large extant. Designing a good multicast tree to route data packets could enhance the...
متن کاملInterference-Aware and Cluster Based Multicast Routing in Multi-Radio Multi-Channel Wireless Mesh Networks
Multicast routing is one of the most important services in Multi Radio Multi Channel (MRMC) Wireless Mesh Networks (WMN). Multicast routing performance in WMNs could be improved by choosing the best routes and the routes that have minimum interference to reach multicast receivers. In this paper we want to address the multicast routing problem for a given channel assignment in WMNs. The channels...
متن کاملLocal solutions for global problems in wireless networks
In this paper, we review a recently developed class of algorithms that solve global problems in unit distance wireless networks by means of local algorithms. A local algorithm is one in which any node of a network only has information on nodes at distance at most k from itself, for a constant k. For example, given a unit distance wireless network N , we want to obtain a planar subnetwork of N b...
متن کاملImpact of Constraints on the Complexity and Performance of Channel Assignment in Multi-Hop Wireless Networks
In this paper we systematically study several channel assignment problems in multi-hop ad-hoc wireless networks in the presence of several constraints. Both regular grids and random topology models are considered in the analysis. We identify three fairness constraints (unfair, fair, and 1-fair), Signal to Interference Ratio (SINR) constraint (to measure the link quality) and balance constraint ...
