Learning Gaussian Process Models from Uncertain Data

چکیده
It is generally assumed in the traditional formulation of supervised learning that only the outputs data are uncertain. However, this assumption might be too strong for some learning tasks. This paper investigates the use of Gaussian Process prior to infer consistent models given uncertain data. By assuming a Gaussian distribution with known variances over the inputs and a Gaussian covariance function, it is possible to marginalize out the inputs’ uncertainty and keep an analytical posterior distribution over functions. We demonstrated the properties of the method on a synthetic problem and on a more realistic one, which consist in learning the dynamics of the well-known cart-pole problem and compare the performance versus a classic Gaussian Process. A large improvement of the mean squared error is presented as well as the consistency of the result of the regression.

An approximate inference with Gaussian process to latent functions from uncertain data
Most formulations of supervised learning are often based on the assumption that only the outputs data are uncertain. However, this assumption might be too strong for some learning tasks. This paper investigates the use of Gaussian processes to infer latent functions from a set of uncertain input–output examples. By assuming Gaussian distributions with known variances over the inputs–outputs and...
متن کاملVariational Inference for Uncertainty on the Inputs of Gaussian Process Models
The Gaussian process latent variable model (GP-LVM) provides a flexible approach for non-linear dimensionality reduction that has been widely applied. However, the current approach for training GP-LVMs is based on maximum likelihood, where the latent projection variables are maximized over rather than integrated out. In this paper we present a Bayesian method for training GP-LVMs by introducing...
متن کاملAssessment of the Efficiency of Climatic factors and geomorphometry in predicting vegetation percentages based on machine learning processes
Introduction: Rangelands are natural ecosystems having large genetic resources. Since plant vegetation is the bed of life on earth and changes under the influence of surrounding environmental elements, using environmental element can highly contribute to estimate vegetation percent more accurately. Two effective elements which can contribute to estimate the vegetation distribution are climatic ...
متن کاملHybrid Control to Approach Chaos Synchronization of Uncertain DUFFING Oscillator Systems with External Disturbance
This paper proposes a hybrid control scheme for the synchronization of two chaotic Duffing oscillator system, subject to uncertainties and external disturbances. The novelty of this scheme is that the Linear Quadratic Regulation (LQR) control, Sliding Mode (SM) control and Gaussian Radial basis Function Neural Network (GRBFNN) control are combined to chaos synchronization with respect to extern...
متن کاملModeling and identification of uncertain-input systems
In this work, we present a new class of models, called uncertain-input models, that allows us to treat system-identification problems in which a linear system is subject to a partially unknown input signal. To encode prior information about the input or the linear system, we use Gaussian-process models. We estimate the model from data using the empirical Bayes approach: the input and the impuls...
