چکیده

Background The benefit of a transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) can differ in patients and therapy bears severe risks. Dual T1 mapping allows for a comprehensive assessment of myocardial tissue by quantification of extracellular volume (ECV) by measuring T1-relaxation before and after administration of Gadolinium(Gd). High degree aortic stenosis can lead to cardiac damage such as diffuse myocardial fibrosis, evaluable by ECV in CMR. We sought to assess the prognostic value of T1 mapping and ECV to predict adverse events during and after TAVR.

Learning curves for transapical transcatheter aortic valve replacement in the PARTNER-I trial: Technical performance, success, and safety.

OBJECTIVES Introduction of hybrid techniques, such as transapical transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TA-TAVR), requires skills that a heart team must master to achieve technical efficiency: the technical performance learning curve. To date, the learning curve for TA-TAVR remains unknown. We therefore evaluated the rate at which technical performance improved, assessed change in occurrence ...

Does the transapical approach impair early recovery of systolic strain following transcatheter aortic valve replacement?

BACKGROUND In transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) the trans-apical approach (TA) is associated with apical myocardial injury but it is unknown if this injury impacts myocardial function. This study was performed to assess the impact of TA on apical longitudinal strain (ALS) and global longitudinal strain (GLS) after TAVR. METHODS 44 consecutive patients (age 81 ± 7 years, 48% male) ...

The role of cardiovascular magnetic resonance in stratifying paravalvular leak severity after transcatheter aortic valve replacement: an observational outcome study

BACKGROUND Significant paravalvular leak (PVL) after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) confers a worse prognosis. Symptoms related to significant PVL may be difficult to differentiate from those related to other causes of heart failure. Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) directly quantifies valvular regurgitation, but has not been extensively studied in symptomatic post-TAVR pa...

Propensity-matched comparisons of clinical outcomes after transapical or transfemoral transcatheter aortic valve replacement: a placement of aortic transcatheter valves (PARTNER)-I trial substudy.

BACKGROUND The higher risk of adverse outcomes after transapical (TA) versus transfemoral (TF) transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) could be attributable to TA-TAVR being an open surgical procedure or to clinical differences between TA- and TF-TAVR patients. We compared outcomes after neutralizing patient differences using propensity score matching. METHODS AND RESULTS From April 200...

Relationship between Patient Safety Culture and Adverse Events in Hospital: A case study

Abstract Introduction: Patient safety culture is an important factor in reducing hospital's adverse event and improving patient safety. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between patient safety culture and adverse events in hospitals of Hamadan city. Methods: The present study was a descriptive-analytical study which was performed in hospitals of Hamadan in 2018. The stu...
