Sliding Mode Control Technique for an Induction Motor Drive Supplied by a Three-Level Voltage Source Inverter

چکیده
SLIDING-MODE control is a control technique used widely in electromechanical systems today [1–4]. It bases on using main characteristics of modern inverter semiconductor switches as Insulated Gate-Commutated Transistors (IGCTs) or Insulated-Gate Bipolar Transistors (IGBTs) that are operating in switch mode with distinctly higher switching frequency [5] than formerly used Gate-Turn-Off Thyristors (GTOs). The switch-mode operation of the devices contributes to high efficiency of the equipment, but has the adverse effect of complicating the control plant. In this case the IM drive with converter can be regarded as a nonlinear variable-structure system, and it is useful to exploit the principal operational mode

A Current-Based Output Feedback Sliding Mode Control for Speed Sensorless Induction Machine Drive Using Adaptive Sliding Mode Flux Observer
This paper presents a new adaptive Sliding-Mode flux observer for speed sensorless and rotor flux control of three-phase induction motor (IM) drives. The motor drive is supplied by a three-level space vector modulation (SVM) inverter. Considering the three-phase IM Equations in a stator stationary two axis reference frame, using the partial feedback linearization control and Sliding-Mode (SM) c...
متن کاملSpace Vector Pulse Width Modulation with Reduced Common Mode Voltage and Current Losses for Six-Phase Induction Motor Drive with Three-Level Inverter
Common-mode voltage (CMV) generated by the inverter causes motor bearing failures in multiphase drives. On the other hand, presence of undesired z-component currents in six-phase induction machine (SPIM) leads to extra current losses and have to be considered in pulse width modulation (PWM) techniques. In this paper, it is shown that the presence of z-component currents and CMV in six phase driv...
متن کاملApplication of Sliding-Mode Control to Drive Systems Fed by a Three-Level Voltage-Source Inverter
The paper explains basic ideas related to the design of a sliding-mode controller for an electromechanic drive system consisting of an induction motor and a three-level voltage-source inverter. A comprehensive investigation of possible “switched structures” of the drive was carried out. Based on this analysis an original two-step design procedure allows to use the “classical” result of sliding-...
متن کاملIncreasing the Efficiency of the Power Electronic Converter for a Proposed Dual Stator Winding Squirrel-Cage Induction Motor Drive Using a Five-Leg Inverter at Low Speeds
A dual stator winding squirrel-cage induction motor (DSWIM) is a brushless single-frame induction motor that contains a stator with two isolated three-phase windings wound with dissimilar numbers of poles. Each stator winding is fed by an independent three-phase inverter. The appropriate efficiency of this motor is obtained when the ratio of two frequencies feeding the machine is equal to the r...

In this paper, computer simulation of a three-phase synchronous motor drive is described. This drive/system is supplied with a new type of pulse-width modulated voltage source inverter (PWM VSI) whose amplitude of the first harmonic, compared to a conventional sinusoidal PWM VSI, is increased by about 17% and whose amplitude of higher harmonics is also reduced inversely proportional to their or...
