چکیده

131 Abstract: A five-year-old male Great Dane was presented with nonambulatory tetraparesis and during the drip follow-up period its neurologic status became worse, despite conservative management for 10 days. Ligamentum flavum disease, dorsal bony compression and malformation of the articular process were diagnosed by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). A dorsal laminectomy was performed. Physiotherapy, including massage, flexion and extension of the limbs, was done twice a day. Voluntary standing and walking were observed during the fourth week after the operation. From a telephone conversation with the owner it was determined that there was no problem in standing up and trotting in the 6th month after the operation.

EVALUATION OF THE RESULTS OF SURGICAL AND MEDICAL TREATMENT IN 16 PATIENTS WITH VERTIGO SECONDARY TO CERVICAL SPONDYLOSIS

ABSTRACT Background: In patients with cervical spondylosis, cord compression and impingement of cord vessels as well as the vertebral artery may be accompanied by vertigo. We evaluated improvement of vertigo in these patients after surgical and medical treatment. Methods: In this prospective study we reviewed 16 patients with vertigo suspected of cervical spondylosis, admitted to our hospital ...

Spinal canal stenosis in L-2-hydroxyglutaric aciduria.

We describe 2 brothers with L-2-hydroxyglutaric aciduria who developed severe spastic tetraparesis in their 30s. They also had an underlying condition of high-grade cervical spinal canal stenosis diagnosed by magnetic resonance imaging. They were operated on to decompress the spine, and the preexisting gait disturbances slowly diminished after the decompression. Since most people with L-2-hydro...

Reevaluation of predictive factors for complete recovery in dogs with nonambulatory tetraparesis secondary to cervical disk herniation.

The vast majority of dogs with cervical disk herniation experience cervical pain and only mild motor deficits; therefore, not much is known about the factors that predict recovery in dogs with nonambulatory tetraparesis (NAT) secondary to cervical disk herniation. In this retrospective study, we tested the hypothesis that two previously reported prognostic factors, site of disk herniation and s...

Cervical spondylomyelopathy in Great Danes: a magnetic resonance imaging morphometric study.

Morphometric investigations comparing normal and affected animals increase our understanding of spinal diseases in dogs. The aim of this study was to generate morphometric data for osseous-associated cervical spondylomyelopathy (CSM) in Great Danes (GDs). Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) morphometric features of the cervical vertebral column of GDs with and without clinical signs of CSM were ch...
