Utility Fusion: Map-Based Planning in a Behavior-Based System
نویسنده
چکیده
* New address as of November 3, 1997: Dept. of Mechanical & Mechatronic Engineering University of Sydney, NSW 2006, Australia A new means of distributed action selection via utility fusion is introduced here as an alternative to both the bottlenecks of centralized systems and the incoherent action selection of distributed systems. Within the utility fusion framework, distributed, independent, asynchronous behaviors indicate the utility of various possible world states. A centralized arbiter then combines these utilities and determines the next action based on the maximization of expected utility. The centralized fusion of utilities from distributed decision-making processes thus provides the responsiveness and robustness of behavior-based systems without sacrificing the coherence and rationality of centralized architectures.

Utility Theoretic Planning in a Behavior-Based System
A new means of action selection via utility fusion is introduced as an alternative to both the bottlenecks of centralized systems and the incoherence of distributed systems. Within this framework, distributed behaviors indicate the utility of various possible world states and the uncertainty associated with them. A centralized arbiter then combines these utilities and probabilities to determine...
متن کاملA Hierarchical SLAM/GPS/INS Sensor Fusion with WLFP for Flying Robo-SAR's Navigation
In this paper, we present the results of a hierarchical SLAM/GPS/INS/WLFP sensor fusion to be used in navigation system devices. Due to low quality of the inertial sensors, even a short-term GPS failure can lower the integrated navigation performance significantly. In addition, in GPS denied environments, most navigation systems need a separate assisting resource, in order to increase the avail...
متن کاملLandslide Susceptibility Mapping Using Fusion Models of Frequency Ratio (FR) and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP)
Landslide susceptibility zonation mapping is necessary in urban and rural development planning. So far different methods are presented for Landslide susceptibility zonation. In this study, using statistical method of Frequency ratio and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) based on paired comparison and intervention based such as slope, aspect, altitude, geology, land use, Normalized vegetatio...
متن کاملChange Detection in Urban Area Using Decision Level Fusion of Change Maps Extracted from Optic and SAR Images
The last few decades witnessed high urban growth rates in many countries. Urban growth can be mapped and measured by using remote sensing data and techniques along with several statistical measures. The purpose of this research is to detect the urban change that is used for urban planning. Change detection using remote sensing images can be classified into three methods: algebra-based, transfor...
متن کاملApplication of Combined Local Object Based Features and Cluster Fusion for the Behaviors Recognition and Detection of Abnormal Behaviors
In this paper, we propose a novel framework for behaviors recognition and detection of certain types of abnormal behaviors, capable of achieving high detection rates on a variety of real-life scenes. The new proposed approach here is a combination of the location based methods and the object based ones. First, a novel approach is formulated to use optical flow and binary motion video as the loc...
