چکیده

Recently, the averaged electroencephalographic response (AER) to sound stimuli is routinely used for evaluating the hearing in young children. On the other hand, some authors reported that AER amplitude has a close relation to the loudness recruitment. It is well known that the recruitment phenomenon is an important factor for differentiation of the cochlear disorder from the conductive and retrocochlear disorders. In this paper, the usefulness of the AER to intensity modulated tone for an objective measurement of the loudness recruitment is to be discussed.

Origin of latency shift of cochlear nerve potentials with sound intensity.

Compound action potentials were recorded from the round window in anesthetized rats in response to tonebursts and to continuous tones. The responses to tonebursts were compared to cross-correlograms of the responses to continuous tones that were amplitude modulated by pseudorandom noise. The cross-correlograms were similar in shape to the responses to tonebursts, but the latencies of the two cr...

Transient responses to tone bursts.

Investigating theoretical conditions under which linearly-operating tuned structures produce click-like transient responses to onsets and offsets of trapezoidal tone bursts, we come to the following conclusions: (1) each of the four corners of the trapezoidal tone burst is capable of eliciting such a response; (2) the amplitude of the response and its dependence on the frequency of the modulate...

یافته‌های پاسخ برانگیخته پایدار شنوایی در بزرگسالان مبتلا به نوروپاتی/ناهمزمانی شنوایی

Background & Aim: Auditory steady state response(ASSR) is an auditory evoked response that has received a lot of attention nowadays. At present, ASSR is mostly used to estimate pure-tone thresholds. Clinical evidence of ASSR in combination with findings for auditory middle latency response (AMLR) and 40 Hz response support the assumption that based on stimulus modulation rate, the ASSR anat...

Muscle relaxation does not alter hypnotic level during propofol anesthesia.

UNLABELLED Electromyographic (EMG) activity can contaminate electroencephalographic signals. Paralysis may therefore reduce the Bispectral Index (BIS) by alleviating artifact from muscles lying near the electrodes. Paralysis may also reduce signals from muscle stretch receptors that normally contribute to arousal. We therefore tested the hypothesis that nondepolarizing neuromuscular block reduc...

Modulation of P2 auditory-evoked responses by the spectral complexity of musical sounds.

We investigated whether N1 and P2 auditory-evoked responses are modulated by the spectral complexity of musical sounds in pianists and non-musicians. Study participants were presented with three variants of a C4 piano tone equated for temporal envelope but differing in the number of harmonics contained in the stimulus. A fourth tone was a pure tone matched to the fundamental frequency of the pi...
