چکیده
T congenital malformation remains the leading cause of mortality and serious morbidity in infants of mother with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, inspite of advancement in understanding pregnancy metabolism and treatment. Studies have established association between elevated maternal glucose during embryogenesis and high rates of spontaneous abortions and major malformations in newborn. Clinical trials also have established preconception care to achieve tight glycemic control and during fi rst trimester have resulted in striking reductions in malformations. Unfortunately unplanned pregnancy occurs in a considerable number of women with diabetes resulting in fetal mortality and morbidity.

Angelina L. Trujillo, MD, FACE Diabetes during pregnancy is a major risk factor for poor fetal, neonatal, and maternal outcomes; however, the risk can be greatly reduced by early institution of medical nutritional therapy and insulin treatment. Maintaining maternal glycemia as near to normal as possible reduces the risk of congenital anomalies, macrosomia, neonatal hypoglycemia, and large-for-g...
متن کاملEffect of maternal variable stress on oxidative status and glucose metabolism in pubertal male rats
Introduction: Metabolic disorders are affected by negative stress experiences in the early stages of life. Accordingly, in this study, the effects of stress during pregnancy on oxidative status and glucose homeostasis in pubertal male Wistar rats were investigated. Materials and Methods: After pregnancy, female rats (200±30 g) were divided into 2 groups (6 rats per group) of stress and non-stre...
