Seminar notes on developments in bigraphs

چکیده
These notes support seminars on theoretical advances in the bigraph model. They are conjectural; they aim to stimulate research rather than to report completed work. They also evolve, as new challenges arise both from experimental application and from the theory itself.

An Algebra for Directed Bigraphs
We study the algebraic structure of directed bigraphs, a bigraphical model of computations with locations, connections and resources previously introduced as a unifying generalization of other variants of bigraphs. We give a sound and complete axiomatization of the (pre)category of directed bigraphs. Using this axiomatization, we give an adequate encoding of the Fusion calculus, showing the uti...
متن کاملMatching of Bigraphs
We analyze the matching problem for bigraphs. In particular, we present a sound and complete inductive characterization of matching of binding bigraphs. Our results pave the way for a provably correct matching algorithm, as needed for an implementation of bigraphical reactive systems.
متن کاملKind Bigraphs
We present a refinement, suggested by Jensen and Milner under the term kind, of pure bigraphs. We name the result kind bigraphs. This refinement generalises the notion of atomic and non-atomic controls, allowing a control to contain a subset of the set of controls. We show that this variation has relative pushouts and classify its idem pushouts. A canonical labelled transition system can be der...
متن کاملBigraphs and Their Algebra
Bigraphs are a framework in which both existing process calculi and new models of behaviour can be formulated, yielding theory that is shared among these models. A short survey of the main features of bigraphs is presented, showing how they can be developed from standard graph theory using elementary category theory. The algebraic manipulation of bigraphs is outlined with the help of illustrati...
متن کاملDirected Bigraphs
We introduce directed bigraphs, a bigraphical meta-model for describing computational paradigms dealing with locations and resource communications. Directed bigraphs subsume and generalize both original Milner’s and Sassone-Sobociński’s variants of bigraphs. The key novelty is that directed bigraphs take account of the “resource request flow” inside link graphs, from controls to edges (through ...
