چکیده

ABSTR ACT: Resveratrol was glucosylated to its 3and 4′-β-glucosides by the glucosyltransferase PaGT3 from Phytolacca americana expressed in Bacillus subtilis. PaGT3 glucosylated pterostilbene to its 4′-β-glucoside. Piceatannol was converted into its 4′-β-glucoside by PaGT3. Resveratrol 3-β-glucoside showed the inhibitory action of adhesion, migration, and invasion of KB cells. The resveratrol 3-β-glucoside would act as a chemopreventive agent against KB cells. Piceatannol 4′-β-glucoside showed the strongest inhibitory activity among the glycosides toward histamine release from rat peritoneal mast cells. The 4′-β-glucoside of piceatannol would be a potential therapeutic agent for allergic disease. Pterostilbene 4′-β-glucoside showed high phosphodiesterase (PDE) inhibitory activity. The 4′-β-glucoside of pterostilbene could be a potential chemopreventive agent for Alzheimer’s disease.

ATM/CHK/p53 Pathway Dependent Chemopreventive and Therapeutic Activity on Lung Cancer by Pterostilbene

Among the many stilbenoids found in a variety of berries, resveratrol and pterostilbene are of particular interest given their potential for use in cancer therapeutics and prevention. We purified four stilbenoids from R. undulatum and found that pterostilbene inhibits cancer cell proliferation more efficiently than rhapontigenin, piceatannol and resveratrol. To investigate the underlying mechan...

Resveratrol and Naturally Occurring Analogues in Vaccinium Species

In a continuing study, seventeen samples of berries representing varieties and cultivars of nine Vaccinium species collected from Idaho, Washington, and Wyoming were analyzed for their content of resveratrol, pterostilbene and piceatannol. These naturally occurring stilbenes have been reported to have potential cancer chemopreventive and strong antioxidant activities. Analysis by GC/MS showed c...

Production of highly bioactive resveratrol analogues pterostilbene and piceatannol in metabolically engineered grapevine cell cultures

Grapevine stilbenes, particularly trans-resveratrol, have a demonstrated pharmacological activity. Other natural stilbenes derived from resveratrol such as pterostilbene or piceatannol, display higher oral bioavailability and bioactivity than the parent compound, but are far less abundant in natural sources. Thus, to efficiently obtain these bioactive resveratrol derivatives, there is a need to...

Resveratrol and pterostilbene epigenetically restore PTEN expression by targeting oncomiRs of the miR-17 family in prostate cancer

In recent years, not only has the role of miRNAs in cancer become increasingly clear but also their utilization as potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets has gained ground. Although the importance of dietary stilbenes such as resveratrol and pterostilbene as anti-cancer agents is well recognized, our understanding of their miRNA-targeting capabilities is still limited. In our previous stu...

Leishmanicidal Effect of Synthetic trans-Resveratrol Analogs

BACKGROUND Stilbene-based compounds show antitumoral, antioxidant, antihistaminic, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial activities. Here, we evaluated the effect of the trans-resveratrol analogs, pterostilbene, piceatannol, polydatin and oxyresveratrol, against Leishmania amazonensis. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS Our results demonstrated a low murine macrophage cytotoxicity of all four analo...
