چکیده

Air pollution models that can be used to predict pollution concentrations for periods of up to a year are generally semi-empirical/analytic approaches based on Gaussian plumes or puffs. As input, these models typically use either a simple surface-based meteorological observations file or winds from a diagnostic wind-field model. The latter is basically a sophisticated interpolation model making use of conservation principles and available observations. The Air Pollution Model (TAPM V2) developed by CSIRO (Hurley 2002), is different to these approaches, in that it solves the fundamental fluid dynamics and scalar transport equations to predict mesoscale meteAust. Verification of TAPM meteorological predictions in the Melbourne region for a winter and summer month

Air pollution models that can be used to predict pollution concentrations for periods of up to a year are generally semi-empirical/analytic approaches based on Gaussian plumes or puffs. TAPM: a practical approach to prognostic meteorological and air pollution modelling

Air pollution predictions for environmental impact assessments are usually generated by Gaussian plume/puff models driven by observationally-based meteorological inputs. An alternative approach is to use prognostic meteorological and air pollution models, which are better founded than the Gaussian approach, but tend to require much expertise and time to set up and large computing resources to r...

Forecasting of Chaotic Cloud Absorption Time Series for Meteorological and Plume Dispersion Modeling

A nonlinear forecasting method based on the reconstruction of a chaotic strange attractor from about 1.5 years of cloud absorption data obtained from half-hourly Meteosat infrared images was used to predict the behavior of the time series 24 h in advance. The forecast values are then used by a meteorological model for daily prediction of plume transport from the As Pontes 1400-MW power plant in...

Meteorological Application of an Instrumented Unmanned Aircraft System: Structure Function Parameters and Sodar Comparison Student Team

The ability to obtain meteorological measurements in the planetary boundary layer for quantification of clear-air turbulence is investigated using the Small Multifunction Research and Teaching Sonde (SMARTSonde). With an instrumented unmanned aircraft, a series of flights were conducted in the spring of 2013 to obtain meteorological variables at Kessler Atmospheric and Ecological Field Station ...

A synoptic-climatology approach to increase the skill of numerical weather predictions over Iran

Simplifications used in regional climate models decrease the accuracy of the regional climate models. To overcome this deficiency, usually a statistical technique of MOS is used to improve the skill of gridded outputs of the Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) models. In this paper, an experimental synoptic-climatology based method has been used to calibrate, and decrease amount of errors in GFS...
