Tsai’s camera calibration method revisited
نویسنده
چکیده
A calibration target can be imaged to provide correspondences between points in the image and points in space. It is, however, generally impractical to position the calibration target accurately with respect to the camera coordinate system using only mechanical means. As a result, the relationship between the target coordinate systemand the camera coordinate system typically also needs to be recovered from the correspondences. This is referred to as exterior orientation in photogrammetry.

Problems Encountered in the Implementation of Tsai’s Algorithm for Camera Calibration
Camera calibration is an important step in the initialisation of many stereo vision systems. The accuracy of camera parameters has a marked effect on the data obtained from a stereo vision system. In this paper, we describe some difficulties met in an attempt to build a calibration system based on Tsai’s Algorithm [Tsai, 1987]. We also offer some methods to overcome these problems. An overview ...
متن کاملCamera Calibration Utility Description
To calibrate our cameras for stereo viewing we use Roger Y. Tsai’s versatile camera calibration algorithm described in [1]. The problem with calibrating two cameras for stereo viewing is that to calibrate them it is necessary to record a calibration target with points of known coordinates and then find the image coordinates of calibration points on images from both cameras, put them in files in...
متن کاملCalibration of Dynamic Stereo and Binocular Stereo for Large Scale Objects
This thesis mainly deals with large scale objects of height around 1.5 meters. It uses a dynamic stereo model or a binocular stereo model to calibrate and reconstruct a 3D large scale object. This thesis briefly introduces two basic calibration techniques, i.e. DLT calibration technique and Tsai’s calibration technique. It then discusses and evaluates the impact of different factors on the cali...
متن کاملIntegrating Tsai’s Camera Calibration Algorithm with KLT Feature Tracking
We describe a robust and accurate algorithm to track selected features of a 3D scene in a video recording. The algorithm uses a synergistic combination of Roger Tsai’s camera calibration (TCC) algorithm and the Kanade-LucasTomasi (KLT) feature finder. Instead of trying to detect and reject outliers, we modified Tsai’s algorithm to use confidence weights which depend on the quality of the match ...
متن کاملPerforming Improved Two-step Camera Calibration with Weighted Total Least-squares
In order to improve the Tsai’s two-step camera calibration method, we present a camera model which accounts for major sources of lens distortion, namely: radial, decentering, and thin prism distortions. The coordinates of principle points will be calculated at the same time. In the camera calibration model, considering the errors existing both in the observation vector and the coefficient matri...
