Gender Difference in Idiopathic Right Ventricular Outflow Tract-Ventricular Tachycardia.

چکیده
BACKGROUND Few studies have discussed gender differences in idiopathic right ventricular outflow tract-ventricular tachycardia (RVOT-VT). This study explored possible gender differences in electrophysiological characteristics and catheter ablation for idiopathic RVOT-VT in Taiwan. METHODS Ninety-three patients (mean age 38.7 ± 15.5years, 30 males) were diagnosed as having idiopathic RVOT-VT between 1998 and 2010, and were enrolled and analyzed as part of our investigation. RESULTS The age of onset, syncope episodes, underlying hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia or family history of ventricular arrhythmias did not differ between males and females. Male patients had longer QRS width (99.9 ± 19.4 ms vs. 88.4 ± 20.7 ms, p = 0.02). Female patients had lower right ventricular mean voltage (3.0 ± 0.7 mV vs. 3.7 ± 0.9 mV, p = 0.03), and more low voltage zone over the right ventricular outflow tract free wall (27.0% vs. 6.7%, p = 0.02). Eighty-one patients received catheter ablation (23 males). The acute success rate, repeated catheter ablation rate and VT recurrence rate were similar between the genders. CONCLUSIONS Our study did reveal differences in electroanatomical characteristics by gender for patients who had idiopathic RVOT-VT, but overall outcomes after catheter ablation were similar. KEY WORDS Gender; Right ventricular outflow tract-ventricular tachycardia.

Gender differences in electrophysiological characteristics of idiopathic ventricular tachycardia originating from right ventricular outflow tract.
It has become increasingly apparent in recent years that there are important differences of many cardiovascular disorders including ventricular tachycardias in men and women. Nevertheless, so far just few studies have addressed possible gender differences in electrophysiological characteristics of idiopathic ventricular tachycardia from right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT-VT), other than epid...

ustained monomorphic ventricular tachycardia (VT) is most often related to myocardial structural heart disease, including a healed myocardial infarction, and cardiomyopathies. However, no apparent structural abnormalities are identified in approximately 10% of all cases of sustained monomorphic VT in the United States1 and in 20% of those in Japan.2 These cases of VT are referred to as “idiopat...
متن کاملIdiopathic right ventricular outflow tract tachycardia induced during acute episode of atrial fibrillation.
Tachycardia-induced tachycardia is a rare condition. We report a case in which an episode of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation led to right ventricular outflow tract tachycardia. We also analyse all potential mechanisms that might contribute to the coexistence of these two different arrhythmias in the same patient.
متن کاملIdiopathic Polymorphic Ventricular Tachycardia: a “Benign Disease” with a Touch of Bad Luck?
Ventricular extrasystole originating from the right ventricular outflow tract or the left ventricular outflow tract are the most commonly encountered ventricular arrhythmias recorded in ostensibly healthy individuals with no evidence of heart disease. These ventricular arrhythmias have a distinctive electrocardiographic morphology. The morphology is so distinctive that it is common practice to ...
متن کاملVentricular tachycardia in structurally normal hearts: recognition and management.
Idiopathic ventricular tachycardia is a defined set of tachycardias when structural or pathological cause has been ruled out for the same. This paper tries to define and classify these arrhythmias to organize a logical therapeutic approach to deal with them. 60-80% of the idiopathic tachycardias originate from the right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) and in 10% from the left ventricular outfl...
