Roughening transition driven by a binary spreading process
نویسنده
چکیده
We introduce a solid-on-solid growth process which evolves by random deposition of dimers, surface diffusion, and evaporation of monomers from the edges of plateaus. It is shown that the model exhibits a robust transition from a smooth to a rough phase. The roughening transition is driven by an absorbing phase transition at the bottom layer of the interface, which displays the same type of critical behavior as the pair contact process with diffusion 2A → 3A, 2A → ∅. Se p 20 01 Growth Exponent in the Domany - Kinzel Cellular Automaton
In a roughening process, the growth exponent β describes how the roughness w grows with the time t: w ∼ t β. We determine the exponent β of a growth process generated by the spatiotemporal patterns of the one dimensional Domany-Kinzel cellular automaton. The values obtained for β shows a cusp at the frozen/active transition which permits determination of the transition line. The β value at the ...
متن کاملNumerical study of the disorder-driven roughening transition in an elastic manifold in a periodic potential.
We study the roughening transition of a (3+1)-dimensional elastic manifold, which is driven by the competition between a periodic pinning potential and a random impurity potential. The elastic manifold is modeled by a solid-on-solid-type interface model, and the universal properties of the transition from a flat phase (for strong periodic potential) to a rough phase (for strong random potential...
متن کاملDisorder Driven Roughening Transitions of Elastic Manifolds and Periodic Elastic Media
The simultaneous effect of both disorder and crystal-lattice pinning on the equilibrium behavior of oriented elastic objects is studied using scaling arguments and a functional renormalization group technique. Our analysis applies to elastic manifolds, e.g., interfaces, as well as to periodic elastic media, e.g., charge-density waves or flux-line lattices. The competition between both pinning m...

Scanningelectron microscopy (SEM) has been utilized to examine the morphology and topography alterations in the surface of Poly(Lactic Acid)(PLA) fabrics due to UV/Ozoneirradiation. In the past decade, a growing attention in the usage of “Green Techniques” in industrial applications has been observed owing to many benefits such as low impurities and their relatively low cost to substitute th...
متن کاملScaling exponents of rough surfaces generated by the Domany-Kinzel cellular automaton.
The critical behavior at the frozen-active transition in the Domany-Kinzel stochastic cellular automaton is studied via a surface growth process in (1+1) dimensions. At criticality, this process presents a kinetic roughening transition; we measure the critical exponents in simulations. Two update schemes are considered: in the symmetric scheme, the growth surfaces belong to the directed percola...
