Redox State Drives the Pathogenesis of Hypertension
نویسندگان
چکیده
17 Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is one of the most common causes of hypertension 18 in western societies. OSA causes chronic intermittent hypoxia (CIH) in specialized O 2-19 sensing glomus cells of the carotid body. CIH generates increased reactive oxygen 20 species (ROS) that trigger a feed-forward mechanism in which increased intracellular 21 calcium levels ([Ca 2+ ] i) trigger increased HIF-1α synthesis and increased HIF-2α 22 degradation. As a result, the normal homeostatic balance between HIF-1α-dependent pro-23 oxidant and HIF-2α-dependent anti-oxidant enzymes is disrupted, leading to further 24 increases in ROS. Carotid body sensory nerves project to the nucleus tractus solitarius, 25 from which the information is relayed via interneurons to the rostral ventrolateral medulla 26 in the brainstem, which sends sympathetic neurons to the adrenal medulla to stimulate the 27 release of epinephrine and norepinephrine, catecholamines that increase blood pressure.

Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are involved in physiological functions and act as mediators in various signaling processes. Elevated or sustained generation of free radicals and non radical species derived from free radicals can lead to an imbalance in the intracellular redox homeostasis. Normally, any excess levels of reactive radical and nonradical species generated are intercepted by antioxid...

Ni6(N2H4)6(SO4)4(OH)2(H2O)8](SO4)(H2O)10 complex was prepared according to literature report. The reaction between aforementioned complex via sodium alkoxides as a reactants, were carried out in the solid state. The [Ni6(N2H4)6(SO4)4(OH)2(H2O)8](SO4)(H2O)10 undergoes an intramolecular two electrons oxidation-reduction reaction at room temperature and metallic nickel nanoparticles (Ni1-Ni5) was ...

متن کاملAdaptive Speed Control of Three-Phase Induction Servo-drives Based on Feedback Linearization Theory
In this paper, based on feedback linearization control method and using a special PI (propotational integrator) regulator (IP) in combination with a feed-forward controller, a three-phase induction servo-drive is speed controlled. First, an observer is employed to estimate the rotor d and q axis flux components. Then, two input-output state variables are introduced to control the dynamics of to...
