چکیده
The Journal of Manual & Manipulative Therapy Vol. 14 No. 1 (2006), E1 E10 Approximately 90% of the people in the US will experience significant low back pain (LBP) at some point in their life1. Lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) is identified as one of the primary causes of back pain in the elderly1 and is the most common diagnosis requiring lumbar spine surgery for patients over 652. It is estimated that 3-4% of patients who seek assistance from general practitioners for LBP are eventually diagnosed with LSS. Data from the national hospital discharge survey showed an Management of Lumbar Spinal Stenosis through the Use of Translatoric Manipulation and Lumbar Flexion Exercises: A Case Series

Manipulation Effect on Lumbar Kinematics in Patients with Unilateral Innominate Rotation and Comparison with Asymptomatic Subjects
Background: Lumbar motion analysis is used as a clinical method in the diagnosis and treatment of low back pain (LBP). So far, no studies have shown if manipulating the sacroiliac joint (SIJ) will change spinal kinematics. Objective: The main objectives of this study were to investigate the effects of SIJ manipulation on the lumbar kinematics in subjects with innominate rotation and to compare l...

[Purpose] This study examined the effects of flexion-distraction manipulation therapy on pain and disability in patients with lumbar spinal stenosis. [Subjects] Thirty patients with lumbar spinal stenosis were divided into two groups: a conservative treatment group (n=15) and a flexion-distraction manipulation group (n=15). [Methods] The conservative treatment group received conservative physic...

INTRODUCTION The purpose of this study is to report the findings resulting from chiropractic care using flexion distraction spinal manipulation for a patient with low back and radicular pain due to spinal stenosis caused by a synovial cyst. CASE REPORT A 75-year-old man presented with low back pain radiating to the right anterior thigh and down the left posterior leg of 3 years' duration. Phy...
متن کاملThree-step treadmill test and McKenzie mechanical diagnosis and therapy to establish directional preference in a patient with lumbar spinal stenosis: a case report.
BACKGROUND Lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) is defined as narrowing of the spinal canal. LSS is commonly treated conservatively, primarily with flexion-based exercises. We present a patient diagnosed with LSS, refractory to a flexion-based protocol who ultimately responded to an extension-based protocol following establishment of directional preference with three-step treadmill testing. DESCRIPTI...
