New presence in the EMBnet Brazilian Node

Designing a new drug is not a trivial project and very often it demands large amounts of money and time. The proteins and their interactions play important role in this scientific sector. The main approach of drug designing is to create new molecules which could affect a biological mechanism with the minimum side effects possible. In this review, we present the different kinds of protein interactions and their main depositories which are the online protein databases. Moreover, the main computational techniques that are being used in designing drug targets are presented. The combination of computational approaches with the biological ones demonstrates the important role that bioinformatics is playing in drug designing and targeting.
