Presynaptic mechanisms of endocannabinoid - mediated long term depression in the hippocampus 1
نویسنده
چکیده
5 Endogenous cannabinoids (eCBs) mobilized from postsynaptic cells activate presynaptic cannabinoid 6 receptors (CB1Rs), and thereby inhibit synaptic transmitter release. The inhibition can be either brief 7 (seconds) or long-lasting (minutes to hours). Recent studies provide insight into the presynaptic 8 mechanisms responsible for long-lasting, eCB-mediated long-term depression (eCB-LTD). Among these, 9 the proteins PKA and RIM1α appear to be crucial, though other possibilities are emerging. 10

متن کاملEndocannabinoid-Mediated Long-Term Plasticity Requires cAMP/PKA Signaling and RIM1α
Endocannabinoids (eCBs) have emerged as key activity-dependent signals that, by activating presynaptic cannabinoid receptors (i.e., CB1) coupled to G(i/o) protein, can mediate short-term and long-term synaptic depression (LTD). While the presynaptic mechanisms underlying eCB-dependent short-term depression have been identified, the molecular events linking CB1 receptors to LTD are unknown. Here...
متن کاملAssociative, bidirectional changes in neural signaling utilizing NMDA receptor- and endocannabinoid-dependent mechanisms.
Persistent, bidirectional changes in synaptic signaling (that is, potentiation and depression of the synapse) can be induced by the precise timing of individual pre- and postsynaptic action potentials. However, far less attention has been paid to the ability of paired trains of action potentials to elicit persistent potentiation or depression. We examined plasticity following the pairing of spi...
متن کاملPresynaptic Homeostatic Plasticity Rescues Long-Term Depression after Chronic -Tetrahydrocannabinol Exposure
Alterations of long-term synaptic plasticity have been proposed to participate in the development of addiction. To preserve synaptic functions, homeostatic processes must be engaged after exposure to abused drugs. At the mouse cortico-accumbens synapses, a single in vivo injection of -tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) suppresses endocannabinoid-mediated long-term depression. Using biochemical and elec...
