Energy Efficient Information Dissemination in Ad Hoc Networks Utilizing Bi-orthogonal Signaling

چکیده
In this paper, we leverage bi-orthogonal signaling by using a time slot dependent identification scheme that enables energy efficient information dissemination, independent of the network topology. The approach, although motivated by cooperative modulation schemes that require information to be dispersed to other nodes within a wireless ad hoc network, can be applied directly to wired networks. As a measure of energy efficiency in information dissemination, we consider the number of transmissions required for broadcast. For the grid topology, we give a tighter bound than [1] without using our proposed time slot dependent identification scheme, and then focus on optimizing an information dissemination scheme for the grid topology.

Mobile Ad hoc networks (MANETs) are composed of mobile stations communicating through wireless links, without any fixed backbone support. In these networks, limited power energy supply, and frequent topology changes caused by node mobility, makes their routing a challenging problem. TORA is one of the routing protocols that successfully copes with the nodes’ mobility side effects, but it do...

Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) are constructed by mobile nodes without access point. Since MANET has certain constraints, including power shortages, an unstable wireless environment and node mobility, more power-efficient and reliable routing protocols are needed. The OLSR protocol is an optimization of the classical link state algorithm. OLSR introduces an interesting concept, the multipoint r...
